Body kit. part 1 - Toyota MR2, 2.0L, 1990
So I decided to describe the birth of the appearance of the car in the cator, she now resides. Perhaps my experience will be useful to someone in the manufacture or installation of plastic parts on a car. Immediately I note that before that I had never dealt with body kits and their installation, moreover, according to this scheme, I will hardly do it =) ...
How did it all start, I would like to remember ... oh yes, I went to the mr-ke in this form for 1.5 years (4.5 years from the date of purchase):
... and did not even think about increasing the power) - why 165hp? on the machine normally roll))) Better let it be beautiful first, yyyy. Somewhere in the spring of 07, I bought a Weil Side bumper, or rather its Japanese replica.
fitting showed that the bumper fits well, but in order for the ideal stacks to be finalized, and then, against the background of magazine articles from the TA, a wild idea appeared to merge a metal wing and a plastic bumper. like a shaving forest!
The idea is this: we will splicate from the inside by applying a heap of layers of resin with glass mat, to strengthen the knot, we will throw a couple of m5 studs, clean up the iron and "lift" it so that it sticks better - the main thing is that the knot does not move during operation. by weight FSUs.
the upper bumper mount is made of a tube with bolts welded into it, this whole bracket is glued into the bumper:
pat we throw over everything with resin, but more, more)))
Koneshno, there was a risk that not even a week would pass, and cracks would appear along the seam with the m / d wing and bumper, but as it turned out, everything turned out to be quite strong and for a whole year I left without problems and there were no cracks until ... well, that's another story))) )
and then the search for steam and the rear bumper began ...
ps Comrade Denis helped me to grow the bumper , or rather, I helped him here)) I want to say thank you! more)))). here.
yeah, at patamushto I rubbed the state number, but traces of his stay remained)))))
It seems to me, Igor, with my attempts with a body kit I slightly damaged your psyche))) and repulsed any desire to make plastic on my car)
honestly, yes :) I was not looking after the injury and I'm not ready to go further in your footsteps :)
in truth, the splicing method described above is not the most successful. The strength of the bumper-to-wing transition unit is extremely high (dohren + pins), but this unit, how to explain it, is not repairable tunnels ... for almost a year I left without any problems, I even clung to the asphalt with my lip - no trichinkas appeared. But once I lightly put the car on the facade))) (funny story) and it appeared: (it is hard to see but it is there, and it is impossible to repair it - this is a mistake of the technology I proposed. It was necessary to cut off all the wing brackets and do it like the expansion of the wings ...
