Chacha in the radiator - Toyota Carina ED, 2.0 L, 1996

Chacha in the radiator - Toyota Carina ED 20 L 1996

Over time, a problem arose. When you press the pedal to the floor, a strange sound is heard in the cabin, similar to the murmur of water. Naturally, it immediately became clear that there was a shortage of water in the system. At that time, red antifreeze was poured. I open the hood, unscrew the radiator cap and - Oh God, what do I see! The entire lid is covered with some kind of dirt from the inside, and there is not enough antifreeze in the radiator. I strained my zvilins and remembered that six months ago I added distilled water! But where did she go?
Having taken a minibus to the market and bought antifreeze, I began to top up this "interesting" liquid. ))))) Filled up to the neck, warmed up. I carefully open the radiator and the scribe again. A sharp disgusting smell of some kind of chemistry hit my nose. There is some kind of dirt mixed with antifreeze in the radiator, more like sand!
I went to the service, they said that I needed to wash. This reaction often happens if you pour distilled water into an old antifreeze and let it brew!
What to do, you need to rinse. I consulted with the masters, with friends, sat on the forums and went to rinse.
What I needed:
1) 2 cans of antifreeze, 5 liters each.
2) 2 liters of distilled water.
3) Lots of liters of water (about 20 buckets).
4) Regular bleach powder bought in magnet.
5) 4 liters of Coca-Cola. )))) (into itself))))
6) Pack Parlament)))) (also into itself))))

Course of action:
It's good that it was warm enough. this procedure took a long time, about 4-5 hours.
Arriving at a friend, who, if something happens, can tell you what to do, because well versed in cars, I started ...
What I did:
It is necessary to find a second exit from the radiator, this is usually a screw somewhere below to drain all the liquid. If you cannot find it, you will have to remove it to clean the radiator.
I opened this screw completely, the liquid slowly began to drip (very hot, so you need to do it slowly and carefully), then I opened the main radiator cap to remove the airlock. As soon as this was done, all the contents went from below, like from a water tap. Closed the bottom screw.
Then he poured ordinary raw water into the radiator, started the car, and the engine ran for about 5 minutes. Then the same procedure, I leaked everything. And I did this about 6 times, until the drained water changed its color from bright scarlet to the color of ordinary water, i.e. transparent.
Then 3 tablespoons of bleach in a bucket of water. Pour this mixture into the system and heat it up in the same way. So 2 times. Then we again rinse with plain water 6 times, heating the car for 5 minutes.
We take distilled water, pour it into the radiator, and again the same thing, start the engine for 5 minutes. So 2 times.
Then the procedure was a little strange (my opinion is dangerous). As soon as the remaining water (distilled) has been drained, it is necessary to start the engine for a few minutes (1-1.5) and be sure to look at the temperature arrow: if the temperature rises, turn it off immediately. This is done so that the remaining water evaporates due to the temperature created by the radiator.
Then we fill in antifreeze, start the car, and let it thresh for 10-15 minutes. We wash it off and fill in a new one. EVERYTHING! HOORAY! Comrades! This tedious thing is over! )))
It will only be necessary to add antifreeze to the brim on the cold one and that's it.
After these procedures, the problem disappeared and no fermentation took place.

Really stuffy activity, but very useful, educational

That's for sure. Now as anyone has a problem with the radiator, everyone calls me!

Now you got confused :) I don’t know that they clean radiators with bleach. I poured the rinse mixed with water, poured for 10 minutes, drained and poured antifreeze. You have, of course, the coolest thing. I'm on the Classic VAZ 2107 (my former car) I mucked my friend. I put the watering hose into the radiator and poured all the trash under pressure ... it didn't work like that :) In general, you should try with whiteness!

I'll take this information as a souvenir, although I have not changed antifreeze since August 2007, as I took the car, and in my opinion there are no problems. Although I'm thinking about replacing ...

The drain bolt on the engine was not unscrewed ?!

On the engine? No. We only cleaned the radiator.

Antifreeze was changed throughout the system. The point is to wash this way if not to drain the liquid completely. It is not in vain that you started the engine without a coolant. Probably they wanted everything to evaporate completely. Moreover, there is a possibility that the bleach will remain in the system. You guys are risky.

It won't stay, because after the bleach, there were many rinses with plain water and distilled water.
