SCHULBUS - Suspension Games - Toyota Land Cruiser, 4.2L, 1997

I decided to collect in one place, otherwise I am already starting to get confused.
First, after the standard one, like many beginner jeepers, I had a 2-inch suspension from Old Man Emu . Plus, a mysterious castor kit for many beginners /

The standard springs were already a bit hooked, especially on the left, so the first 2 inches of the lift and the subsequent transition to the 33rd rubber just caused my brain to euphoria, and that's probably why there were several more suspension replacements.
The suspension is new, the wheels are old ...

... and the wheels are new

The bright yellow ammorts and the steering damper that came with the suspension were good: they swallowed a nervous beat, kept the car in turns, rolled nicely without swinging on large waves. The previous owner managed to put "polyurethane in a circle", so there was nothing else to do with the suspension.

So I decided to take the next step: replacing +2 inches by +3 inches. Also from the OME catalog.

The replacement was easy, and my 80 sagging under the weight of two bumpers + a winch + two wickets + a spare wheel became full-size again.
I had to go through the standard Panhard rod lengthening procedure. And since I was sure that this was not the last change to the suspension, it was made adjustable:

However, I could not help but notice that after settling on the backside of the 80s of a beautiful ARB-shny product, the smoothness of the ride became lulling, screwing into a turn like a bus, and the ability to sharply maneuver was only due to fortitude and luck.

It was decided to experiment. And having agreed with a teammate, we built a change: he had a +3 inch suspension Ironman and it was hard for him, but for me it was too soft.

IronMan - yellow, OME - black

No sooner said than done. True, I still have my ammorty, tk. Ironman's were noticeably smaller moves. Moreover, they are purely oil-based, in contrast to gas-oil OMEs.

Experiment Colleague:

Changed - and now it is the long-awaited harmony. Vibration loading has become a reasonable price to pay for the significantly increased energy consumption of the suspension. Now, even when fully loaded with everything I needed, my Schoolbus could go 120-130 km / h on any route. I amused myself with the fact that I deliberately drove into broken sections without slowing down, accelerated even more and jumped over railway crossings, where all the normal ones crawled in a whisper ...

By the way, on all suspensions the "muzzle" is lower than the feed. I'm not interested, there are different versions of why this is so, but by my order they made spacers for the front springs +35 mm and the problem of trim on the nose is gone

The combination of Ayromen's springs and OME ammorts turned out to be so cool that I started thinking about the next suspension replacement only a year later. He began to select, compare opinions, participate in discussions and came to the conclusion that the next one would be Tough Dog .

Actually, the next year only strengthened me in this opinion, and after a long search for options, I ordered a set of Touch Dogs for a friend traveling to Australia.

A long history of my friend's trip to Australia, and an even longer container journey to Ukraine, and then a completely criminal story with customs clearance of the cargo, and only in August 09 I saw the long-awaited Touch Dog suspension kit. He amazed me!

It turned out to be a small mistake: instead of + 100 to the rear, and + 125 mm forward, the Australians shipped +150 mm forward and backward.

I tried to tell you briefly. In detail and nuance, stories in other places.

Crazy changes! A very interesting story about the elevator and the springs!

Gee-gee-gee)) An excellent swamp vehicle now) When overcoming the fords, you can not slow down at all)).

vnedorog 18.12.20

Correct direction. And the work of bridges will work with lowering and up and down correctly.

Odissey4x4 18.12.20

They swim. But strong inconvenience +3 "did not deliver. I studied the question out of curiosity. I came to an unequivocal opinion: the upper attachment point should be lowered. But on another machine already ...

vnedorog 18.12.20

Panaru did not hesitate to align both the front and back? Bridges separately, he bodies do not float?

He_)

Well, glamor is not an indicator for us :) The main thing is PP, and everything else will follow :)

On the other hand, there are so many of them on the site! Damn, they won't even win! :)

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

I noticed! I posted it here on purpose. It seems not so long ago.

When I parted with the rear bumper, the 80 became like a rally car: it screwed into a turn, jumps without swinging, it feels good on dolphins. Here are just more shaking. And the glamor began to like it less.

Everything is on the shelves and nothing superfluous, everything is clear and intelligible :) thanks ...

pysy: on the 12th photo, look at the prices of Gasoline ... yomayo ... my heart skipped a beat ...

pysypysy: and still cool without the rear EPIRB :)

The impression is that Touch Dog counts, and then multiplies it by two to be sure.

When I looked at them, I was terrified. But when they put the ammorty in the softest position and switched, the car swam as if on a worn-out Iromen. But I think it will be very difficult to fold coil to coil.

Well, the mass of the Kruzak, too, be healthy. The manufacturers must have calculated everything very well.

I have a Boeing Touch Dog 6 "for two years already. The toughest + amortization KAMAZ and flight + pyatsot.

Fuck massive springs. As thick as a diesel locomotive!

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

Yes, it was. In this case, the wheels could be 40 "freely placed. In the photo, only 37"

Arinet ... bigfoot is straight ... what no, but bigfit!

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

That's for sure.

s
somebody 18.12.20

Heh, well, it is not particularly intended for the highway) quite the opposite. Yes, lovers of real SUVs like to complicate their life, there would be no driving on the asphalt on the highway, it's so boring

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

Believe me, radial tires after diagonal are like road tires after deflated muds.

s
somebody 18.12.20

in general, it feels wide on any MT rubber, but here I can hardly imagine how to ride)

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

It was done. Basically no more than 100-150 km at a time. But when I returned from the ATL trophy from Shatsk, it was about 500 km per night. And this is after a week of competition. If not for the second car, which was bothering me on the radio, I would have stayed to sleep somewhere after the first 300 km.
The main problem is large side deviations on the smallest track defects. And if there is a track from long-range, then you swim like on a boat.

s
somebody 18.12.20

Reng 1450 weighs empty.
By the way, did you drive boggers on asphalt a lot?

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

Maybe. In the summer I will definitely take it.

s
somebody 18.12.20

well, it means about one weight category)

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

40, according to the Toyota description, a little more than 1.5 tons.
Which car? On Schoolbus - Bogger, on Lemonade Joe - Ground Hawg.

s
somebody 18.12.20

Maybe less) how much does 40vka weigh? And what kind of evil rubber in the pictures?

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

Well, not less than forty. Lemonade Joe only became a man at 32 ... Now he put the 33rd Atshka, maybe he will rub a little on the back.

s
somebody 18.12.20

rengas for 33 and 35 look, but 35 is too big. The car is small

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

Then - yes, that's it.

s
somebody 18.12.20

Hmm, I’m already skating less than today, I feel sorry for him, I retrained in the expedition-barbecue option) 35 are already very healthy. Now 32 stand)

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

33? Won't you regret that it's not enough?

s
somebody 18.12.20

Yes, impressive, the story is well illustrated. I'm just all in thought, what to put the rengler. I decided on the size, these are 33 rollers, you don't need more for trips) and the elevator is about 2.5.

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

I traveled on them quite a bit, about six months. Then others went. They never complained about springs for another three or four years, while we communicated

Snail-1 18.12.20

Tell me during the operation of the Touhg Dog +6 car sagged a little bit

OK, thanks!
It's a pity, of course, the test work was done ...

O
Odissey4x4 18.12.20

Hi colleague! I don’t remember already. 7 years since he parted with Skulbus. All I could have saved here in the blog.

Greetings. My friend, help me deal with the rear springs. What is your bar thickness on the rear springs (+150), how many turns and how long were you free? I will be very grateful!
