Brakes - Toyota Celica, 2.0L, 2000

"Brakes were invented by cowards" is a well-known and rather stupid saying at the same time.
The engineers of the car manufacturer are trying to make the model the most balanced and advantageous in terms of price / quality ratio. That is, the efficiency of the stock brakes should be sufficient for the overall dynamics of the car.
However, as power increases, so does the demands on the braking system.

I decided to stop at the domestic company "Proma". In addition to wheel disks, they also produce brake calipers - a licensed copy of the brakes of some well-known company, but for some reason they don't advertise this much.
I had to come to the factory, where the engineer took off the exact dimensions of the seats of the native caliper in order to make spacers for new brakes. By the way, my Celica was their first, so all the other spacers for this model were made according to my size! :)
About a month after that, they called me and said that the kit was ready!

So, some technical information.
The number of pistons in the caliper is 4 (for native brakes - 2). The brake discs were taken from BMW 7 Series, diameter 330 mm. For them, bells were made (the inner part with holes, which is attached to the hub) for my 5 * 100 drilling. After that, notches were made on the discs to divert brake pads.

We get rid of the old studs, as their length was not enough, and new ones were made at the factory, 25 mm longer. Trying on the brake disc.

After that, we fix the caliper on the spacers. Everything fell like a native!

The pads were put on with a little difficulty, but the grinder helped them to climb back to back.

The whole structure is assembled. Unfortunately, there is no comparative photo of the new calipers with the old ones, but believe me, even visually this is heaven and earth!

After a while, I installed TRD reinforced brake hoses, the brake pedal became more informative in terms of sensitivity.

Well, with the rear brakes, I decided not to bother much, since the main load still falls on the front. A teammate from Ebey in the shortest possible time and quite inexpensively brought perforated brake discs with notches to the regular places, and high-temperature pads were attached to them (I don't remember the company either).

Well, what can I say by feeling ... When we went out to check the brakes, just a snow fell and the road had not yet been rolled out. So, any touch of the brake pedal led to the fact that the wheels immediately went into a skid in the snow. Then the pads seemed to get used, and I got used to the stiffness of the pedal a little. But they slow down by several orders of magnitude higher than the standard GT-S brakes. I press the brake quite lightly, the car is stopped simply "with a bang", collecting the asphalt in folds in front of the wheels! :)

Thank you! In terms of price-quality ratio, everything turned out well, I think.

No, I don't remember, to be honest. I brought a cactus, but I don’t remember which ones. The stock calipers themselves remained.

Denis, do you remember which company the rear brakes are? POWERBRAKE by accident? recently bought myself one with perforation and notches
