Turbocharging control from steering buttons - Toyota Celica, 2.0L, 2000

Turbocharging control from steering buttons - Toyota Celica 20L 2000
Studying the instructions for my freshly bought Apexi AVC-R boost controller I found out that it has such an interesting feature called "Scramble Boost".

Speaking in Russian, when a certain wire is closed to ground with the help of a button, it is capable of briefly (from 1 to 60 seconds, the time is set in the settings) to raise the turbine boost pressure by a predetermined value.

That is, you always ride in the normal mode, and when you need to accelerate, you press the button - and you go much faster! It seems like with the injection of nitrous oxide in the movie "Fast and the Furious", but without nitrous oxide :)

Well, if you consider that I have "unnecessary" automatic transmission control buttons on the steering wheel (instead of which there has been a mechanic for a long time) and a cruise control control lever (which I also threw out a long time ago, since the new brains of Apexi PowerFC did not support work with him), then I decided to use them.

Remove the airbag, unscrew the side buttons.

We disassemble and take out the buttons themselves ...

... Then we paint them red with three layers from a spray can + three layers of transparent varnish on top. A couple of hours - and you're done!

To control the boost controller, only one button was needed, and there are a lot of them in stock ... It was also decided to implement music control in the computer (songs back and forth, left and right mouse clicks). For this I used a small wireless mouse-presenter from Targus, bought for 800 rubles on the Savelovsky market.

I disassemble the presenter, solder to four buttons.

Here's how it all looks assembled. I don’t need the mouse cursor function, I only need four buttons. I secure the presenter with clamps on the other side of the steering wheel so that it becomes completely invisible.

I am engaged in native wiring. I took the "mass" from the steering wheel itself, and used one of the wires of the automatic transmission control button as a signal wire for the boost controller - cut it off in the ignition lock area from the native braid and connected it directly to the boost controller. Now when you press the button, mass is supplied to this wire, as it should be according to the instructions.

I make sure everything is connected and working as it should. Songs can now be controlled directly from the wheel, rewinding or paused.

And finally, the most delicious. When you press the left red button, the boost controller switches to the "Scramble Boost" mode and increases the turbine pressure from 0.85 (standard for my engine) to 1.1 bar for 15 seconds, which immediately gives a noticeable pickup and allows you to accelerate well if necessary , and after a given time, if I do not press the button again, it returns to the standard boost pressure!
