What we have (mechanical part) - Toyota Corolla, 1.2 L, 1974

Well, the machine is in the garage, you can disassemble and disassemble. Upon urgent request, the color should be changed from light beige to red (Ruby 110). And what it is to paint a white car in a dark color, I think, is not worth explaining. Everything had to be removed except for the suspension. To be honest, I didn't take off the torpedo either. And dismantling began with troubleshooting.
And I had to defect a lot, a lot. The front struts were half empty, the springs sat down so that by lifting the wheel on a jack, I could calmly lift the lever up by 3-4 centimeters. The right lever needed to be replaced, but I was able to align it and return it to good condition. It was more and more difficult with the inner steering tip, it was broken off to a bend under the lateral rod hinge, and although the extension sleeve connected the outer and inner tips, it rested against the rod when fully inverted, and the turning radius increased. It is necessary to search, in principle.
Ball, silent blocks and elastic bands of stretch marks were in fair condition, which cannot be said about the rear springs. But hands came to the springs much later, in the winter of 1997, when the car again got stuck due to a broken windshield.
The front pads were about 3 mm thick and the brake discs were in perfect condition. It was easier with pads

Their form was very close to the Nivovskys. It was only necessary to mill a little. What I did, but I didn't take into account one thing: our base plate and the pad itself turned out to be almost 1 mm thicker, which is why I did not manage to stick two new pads, leaving one old one and one new one. Rear riveted, using lining from 412 Moskvich. The condition of the brake cylinder cuffs was normal, I did not even find a hint of a leak. Just changed the liquid to fresh.
He pulled out the unit (how tiny it is!), "Cut it in half", riveted the clutch disc linings, boiled the release plate in lubricant (just in case). The flywheel and basket worked very little. With the engine, the following was to be done: the pump was leaking, the pan was rusty, the valves had not been regulated, apparently, for a long time. At the same time I removed the chain cover and checked the condition of the tensioner and the chain itself. By the way, I had a 3K - lower shaft, with deep candle wells. It looked something like this:

It is worth adding here the filter housing, which is boldly painted with black paint. I tried to clean it and found that the native white enamel, completely intact, is kept under the "blackness". At the same time, I found a sticker with instructions on valve clearances, oil and air filter change intervals. Oddly enough, I found the new element right away, the Filtron's "donut" cost $ 5.
I cleaned the covers and pulleys, painted them. He gave the pump to the turner, with great difficulty he inserted the VAZ bearing into it, and the oil seal had to be assembled from two, one, it is too small compared to ours.
The carburetor was two-stone, with an interesting mixture enrichment system: the second chamber had its own air damper, with a hole. It opened under the action of an air flow, and a small weight on the lever provided cover. I also cleaned everything, cleaned out the dirt and carbon deposits. I changed everything, put it on the sealant.
The turn came to the radiator. He was already a VAZ, and some of the honeycombs had to be simply soldered - they pulled and bent in an accident. But for such a tiny engine, the remaining ones were quite enough. The impeller, by the way, was also ours, it seems, from Moskvich. Then I removed it altogether, soldering the sensor into the radiator reservoir and installing an electric fan with a Honda bat.
The cardan with two knocking crosses, unfortunately, did not wait in the wings, the hands did not have time to reach ...
The muffler was intact, but heavily jammed in the front part, near the "pants". Wheels 12-inch, different and bald, all the fault was that the front panel was bent, and "muzzle" constantly converged after any good hole. Then they adjusted the angles and again, to the fossa. It was necessary to boil and strengthen the cracked panel and return the diagonals.
This was the general outline of the mechanical part. I still had to put in order a pretty shabby electrician and prepare the body ...

Zhuzhika? I saw quite often, but we lived in the garrison, everything is in plain sight. And then, after a couple of years - only the body, not far from my garage. I saw it when I went to launch the landed battery on Toyota (ex-wife) again. But Toyotu never saw it again, drove it to the garage with grief in half, and left it. The former no longer had rights, she did not particularly strive to work, so they sold them for a pittance for spare parts. But I no longer took part in this, the children told later.

Did you see him alive after the sale?

Not even "jealous". He already asked in an amicable way, let's say, to another owner, everything that was possible at that moment, I had already done with him (within the framework of the rules and the law :)))
