from check to capital - Toyota Celica, 1.8 liter, 2001

from check to capital - Toyota Celica 18 liter 2001

Well, maybe it was not worth repairing the check bulb :)
And the story is as follows: in fact, the check did not initially burn, but after about 10 km of the road I decided to catch fire. I went to scan, the result: "vvt sensor | camshaft position sensor circuit range performance problem" which indicates several possible breakdowns, such as chain stretching, VVTI valve and a few more. When I arrived for a more detailed scan, the foreman found that I had a minimum of oil, he told me to add oil, they say, you have oil starvation, so VVTI does not work. Indeed, after adding oil to the level, the check went out.
But less than 10 km passed, as the check caught fire again.
Thoughts to just clean the valve immediately disappeared, because it can help for a very short time.
If you change the oil and so on, in order to look for where the oil is pressing from, it is useful, because she eats it, although by little, but this problem still exists.
How many problems I have with the chain, I do not know (mileage is about 150 sput), but the fact that it is high time to change tensioners and dampers is a fact.
As a result, they decided to turn on the engine, change all the rings, the chain and so on ... I
almost bought all the spare parts, I'm waiting for my turn ... I really worry that everything goes well ...

Mileage: 150,000 km

You also wash on amber) It's a pity that the engine requires capital ... although 150,000 km for such a car is also a bit too much ...

I rarely wash on amber
150 km for a chain motor is not much;)

Some say that ZZ motors reach a maximum of 250,000 km, others claim, just like you, that the chain motor is almost a million! Whom to believe? What to count on?

The chain motor is really reliable, according to the regulations, the chain replacement on the ZZ series motors should occur every 200 thousand, more often the problem is in the tensioner, it is hydraulic. I capitalized the motor by 180, when measuring the chain was not stretched at all, but changed for every fireman. The main problem of the oil consumption of ZZ engines until 2003 lies in the unfortunate shape of the piston oil drains, on old models there are 4 of them and they are small, on models after 2003 there are 8 of them and they are of a larger diameter, so when they are installed, the oil consumption for the rest disappears (checked personally)
