Полный перекрас. Stage2. — Toyota Carina ED, 2.0 л., 1994 года на DRIVE2

Hello everybody!

There have been no updates for a long time, and meanwhile we did not sit idle, just a lot of things. Gradually, this "a lot" acquires a structure and now I can sort out the entire volume of work on the shelves and begin to describe them. Partially.
So let's go.

Remember, I said that "to do it quickly, cheaply and efficiently from friends" is a fairy tale? So, this is not a fairy tale, but the most urgent one. And it consists in the fact that it is CATEGORALLY impossible to do so.

Year of operation after a complete color change:

1. The first sign was underpolishing. Some of the elements are smooth, some are shagreen. This approach is straining. To do - that's all.
2. "Cobweb" on the varnish on the roof. On autopsy, we found a fiberglass-based putty. This thing is very durable, but where there is no constant movement. And the roof of the hardtop is a power element, it is constantly under compression-tension load. All these Brownian processes caused the hard fiberglass to burst, and the varnish went along with it, of course.
3. Rear fenders at the end of the rear window pillars. There should be a shelf. I even conducted some semblance of research, examining ED'shki that come across on the way. Bottom line: there should be a stamp in the drain, the continuation of the door line. I did not succeed in it, due to the peculiarities of my particular body. Of course, this is a lot of putty. And she burst. Just like the very first time. There are also glasses of racks, 50 millimeters away. Without stretching, therefore, they "play" to love, do not go to the grandmother.
4. My jamb and carelessness. Leaving the car for a while in gear, fiddled around. Accidentally in my pocket the remote control button on the key fob jammed. Race immediately started up and drove straight into the fence in front of her and withstanding the onslaught of a shunting locomotive. Of course, the bumper and hood were damaged. We must pay tribute - the bumper structure remained intact! The filler partially flew off, the fiberglass leveling coating peeled off. But the skeleton remained intact! =))) It was not for nothing that they were invented with degrees of rigidity, so! =)

In general, one way or another, there were decently beetles.

A couple of weeks later, after the club's third anniversary, EDesha went into boxing. After the meetings, it was decided: full dousing.
The task this time was simplified by the fact that the openings and the inner side of the doors were painted over, it was not supposed to work with them. But with the body had to work.
First things first, we took the car apart. Bumpers, glass, optics, moldings and seals - all this went into storage until the moment comes when you need to work with them or install them.

This pink thing on the body pillar is real fiberglass lined with elastic resins. With the help of it, a "shelf" on the wing was made. And now you can throw your fingers about the semi-plastic rear fenders, ear-ha =)

Kansai putty - I recommend!

The most laborious and longest process of surface removal lasted 4 days. Then - priming. She is white again =)

From these places I extracted a pound of joint sealant, just painted over.

Base, without varnish. Still damp and matte. Do not touch with your hands! =)

Well, here it is, the final result. Pristine clean and even unpolished. First Look, so to speak =)

Well done! After reading it, I said to myself - maybe some!
And after 2 years of operation, a trip on vacation, and so, on the spot (at the place of residence), there were so many chips that everything else ... Now it makes no sense to tint them with a brush. Thinking about 100% painting. Moreover, your photos are inspiring. Only respect. Give me another photo ...

Thank you =)

No, the base was not washed, two layers of varnish were wet, with an intermediate short drying.

Tedious not that word))

I wrote about Kansai in the LAN, so as not to advertise here.

serg-wolf 11.01.21

banshee, hello. Well done.
Listen, as I understand it, I painted myself in the garage? Matted the base or put varnish on wet?
As for the shpakli, Kansai, where is it for sale ?, So for information, since the novol is, in principle, still satisfied.
PS, I also dream to bring out all the jambs on the body, and tighten with vinyl. Eh ... I began to take the wing out, a tedious task, I already lost count of how many batches I did. So I envy your patience)

b
banshee 11.01.21

I agree) and no brushes in winter)

I also have to come in the spring, I will seek advice!)

Well, in my opinion, the main difficulty is the doors. There you need to be careful when you remove the moldings - so that the clips do not break off - then you will not find them separately on sale, the Chinese meat does not know how to do such. Well, gimorno pens understand. But in general, nothing complicated - in a day one person can calmly understand without haste.

J
Jeka311 11.01.21

By the way, are there any difficulties with disassembling the car?

J
Jeka311 11.01.21

So I have heard and read about doors with moldings, I will be neat)
