Replacement of struts - Toyota Mark II, 2.0 L, 1979
I decided to sort out the hodovka over the weekend. The task was complicated by the fact that many sellers made a helpless gesture to a simple question: Do you have cartridges and shock absorbers for the Mark MX41, etc.…
In "Berkan" they decided that they would choose a model.
So, the car is supported.
Do not forget the work equipment, gloves and glasses, which saved our eyes when a piece of a disk and several pieces of a nut flew off from the grinder ...
We remove the wheels, one nut stubbornly resisted. Well, friendly communication with a chisel and a grinder broke her spirit :)
Further - easier ... Loosen a few bolts. One on the rod, three on the support, two on the caliper, two on the rack mount to the lever. Then we unscrew the two bolts on the brake caliper mount and carefully move it to the side, since the tube first goes from it, and only then it goes into the hose.
Then we unscrew the two bolts from the bottom, and, pulling back the lever, we simply drop the rack with the ball.
It can be seen that the support is extruded and needs to be replaced.
Then it remains to unscrew the three support bolts under the hood, and catch the drop-down rack assembly.
Then, using ties, compress the spring and unscrew the nut that secures the support to the stem.
We remove the support, the upper cup (the place of the beating on the body is visible on it) and the spring.
We clamp the nut that holds the cartridge in the rack with a vice, and unscrew it with a hammer. We lay out everything for troubleshooting. Then you just have to go to the store.
It turns out that there is nothing like that. And what is, it must be cut from the side of the body. By the way, the old cartridge with the inscriptions TOYOTA and KYB was also cut off with a grinder.
Relatives fit for 40-60-70-80 body brands, but they are not ... We take two cartridges forward and two shock absorbers back TOKICO. Everything is oil, to restore smoothness))))
Then we cut off about 1cm from the cartridge (there is a long stop, which is not a pity) and collect everything in reverse order. We throw away the supports and put the original ones, bought on Exist and lying for almost a year (bought for a chayzer). We tighten all the bolts and nuts, lower the car.
Rear shock absorbers change on the pit, the car does not even need to be jacked up. We unscrew the shock absorber bolt on the lever, two nuts in the trunk and everything falls out downward. We take out these old pieces of iron and are surprised, they say "GAZ"! We clean it carefully, since our neighbor has a Volga, and these do not leak and they keep the car, but I really wanted to replace everything around. Using the rubber bands that come with the new shock absorbers, we assemble in the reverse order.
Time: from 17 to 20 hours on Friday and from 11 to 21 hours on Saturday. It could have been faster, but: lunch breaks, shopping trips, and most importantly - Petrovich GAD! I turned on the lights in the garages only at 6 pm on Saturday! And without light, I don't know how to wield a grinder ... Also the hacksaw for metal has disappeared somewhere ...
Detailed prices:
cartridge 1 250
shock absorber 850
support 2 250
VERDICT: we are going smoothly, the buildup is like a good American))) But a small comb is still felt ... Apparently, all the rubber bands are next)))
Not a liter of beer was spent!))))
Price tag: 8 700 ₽ Mileage: 204 988 kmYes, the third ... Since the second thing is to sort out the automatic transmission :)
Here I can’t disagree with you)))) They wrote safety precautions for a reason ... oh, it’s not in vain
And in general, you also need to remember about safety precautions, it was not in vain that they wrote it)))
glasses and gloves are important!
I once had a disc torn off and flew over my head so that I cut my hair (((then I smoked somewhere for half an hour (((and a circle from a large grinder (((
Before that, I have not seen your racks, it turns out that they are not very different from mine.
Hmm ... Everything is possible ... But according to the catalog racks from 40 to 80-k are the same)
The equipment is different by the way, we compared several cars - all different, even kupeshki) So far, I have the most sophisticated equipment of all the known cars))
Strange, these racks are more like 61-71, they have ventilated discs, although somewhere the thought slipped through that the kupeshek had the most sophisticated equipment up to adjustable racks and factory autostart (confirmation of this has not yet been found). As far as I remember, 41MX racks came with a thick, non-ventilated disc and a larger diameter.
Hey. And how exactly does an adjustable stand differ from a regular stand? Throw off the rack number ...)))
hi
we have the same suspension, only the cartridges of the struts, I have adjustable ones.
adjustable, there is a cartridge inside the stock, on top of an electric motor, buttons, normal, sport, auto, when you press the sport racks are zhoskie. When you press, auto racks turn on when you turn the steering wheel, for example, into a skid. but I have already worn them out 200 km. you, put on gas from 10k Lada, keep up to 140 speed, after floats,
Yes, ball only with a lever ... But the plus is that there is an effort to squeeze the finger, and not to tear off, as in Zhiguli ...
ps_ball,! sold only with a lever, although removable, easy, I changed one. I just found the bent lever for disassembly, the ball was alive… under the order we had 4.800, it cost about 4 years ago
.
I’m very familiar with the malignant nut))) I also got this on Trueno, we tried to remove the wheel for about 2 hours, it turned out only when the nut was drilled out at the very least)))
Balls can be brought from the USA from

Front struts cartridges - 48511-29265 ,
rear shock absorbers - 48531-80189. These are not the numbers of the "Tems" hodovka!

Why didn't you order original cartridges and shock absorbers? Exist worked my order without any problems. I can throw off the numbers on the catalog. Moreover, the original ones are gas-oil. As for the ball joints, steering rods, ball ends - they seem to be identical with us and are on sale in car dealerships made by CTR (Korea), of pretty good quality. Look at the sale, you can find it. Just come on a visit, I'm in the BZ (Purchase of spare parts. Preparation for the spring. And beyond) described in detail how and what I changed during the walk.
please write the number of original cartridges and shock absorbers)))
At that time, there was no need for the original ... Thank you for the numbers, but I have them, when the full resuscitation will be, then I will put the original ...
