Do not take D4 direct injection motor - Toyota Corona 20L 1994

3S-FSE - An example of how easily an irrepressible thirst for improvement can turn a great engine into a nightmare. So the Japanese managed to manufacture the worst (according to our conditions) gasoline engine in the range - with direct injection (D4). It is definitely not recommended to take cars with this engine. Or, if it seems so inevitable, you should really imagine what the owner will face, how and for how much he can periodically restore it, and most importantly - why he needs these problems. A detailed description of it requires a separate book, but in a nutshell: the main problem is the failure of the injection pump, which leads not only to interruptions in the operation of the engine, but also, in case of untimely detection, the ingress of a significant amount of gasoline into the crankcase and the ensuing catastrophic wear of the crankshaft and all other "rubbing" elements. A large amount of carbon deposits builds up in the intake manifold as a result of the EGR system. And the "fist of friendship" is generally the standard end of a career for many 3S-FSEs (the second, and even more unpleasant "disease" of this engine is connecting rods breakage). However, there are enough troubles for the rest of the engine systems, which has very little in common with normal S-series engines.
