4 years ago (how time flies for you!) I wrote an entry about the Choice of Car. Then I had to change a BMW X5 on something more interesting. Changed to MINI Cooper S, and was happy. Next – move to Germany, and almost two years of living without a car.
In the last blog where there was quite a lot of words about the last 10 years of my life, including on Drive2, I mentioned that back. No matter how I tried to resist the idea of buying the car, in Riga, it is more necessary than in Berlin. Yes what there to speak, in Berlin it is simply not needed. The idea of the first – electric car.
After progressive super eco-oriented Berlin I wanted to buy an electric car. And then the infrastructure will come.
BMW i3

In i3 I do not mind the design. Only the price. The cost of a standard i3 c extended battery – about 45 thousand euros. It's not the most fully loaded. i3s – 52 thousand euros. I began to think about used. There prices are better, even with a 90Ah battery, you can meet in 35-38 thousand.
But then came the doubts about the practicality. I already had a car with a small trunk, and now he's about the same. Changed the opening now requires more space in the car, and not just because I've gained a few extra pounds (it's been a month in the process of destroying). In the end, it is the capacity of the machine became a critical factor.

Nissan Leaf

Used cars
Began to explore the market of used cars Long dreamed of the idea to buy a good car, 2-3 years, with the best mileage, but without premium, which is paid when buying a new car. Many manufacturers offer to extend the warranty period to 5 years, so everything is bribed.

First disappeared Clubman. Good car, but I wanted something more comfortable, especially given the deplorable state of the roads in Riga and its surroundings.
With Mercedes we ever will get along, but. After Berlin by E-klasse I can't see, because in the city there were many taxis, and there every step of the way met it. C-klasse already obsolete, and I'm a fan of all of these innovations in electronics, gadgets, and more.
BMW. Won't let go this brand. The least irritation calls iDrive. Probably the closest I've been to the Gran Coupe. Really like its interior. F15 is good, but soon had to leave the updated model, and was afraid to catch yourself thinking about that all too much, and why I bought it, and so on. 5GT is a great car, but also thought too outdated.
Then I started thinking again about the warranty, the ability to take the car operating leasing, and everything else, and the idea of buying a used car smoothly moved.

Unity will update soon, the three also (already), four old, 5 just came out, and I all enjoy. From this lineup I was closer to 5er (G30), but not developed.

XC90
Two years ago, during the test drive, didn't come. This time is better, but still very strongly felt that for me it's too much car. The same criticism to work of the box. The cost of 59 thousand euros, all for the same reason, the features of the car market in Latvia.
Yes, you read that right. Over 55 thousand you can take followy XC40, and for 59 – XC90 Inscription. But for 65 – XC60. What will you choose? I chose to look at other brands.
Volvo are great, but we need to do something with the pricing.
What else is there? MINI? New Countryman I once did. Followy, again, at a price very close to X1. Then it is better to take X1.
Koreans, Japanese, and all
A great desire to look at these stamps was not. They are all well done, but I have certain views on how to look like buttons in the interior, that there is a need and what is not, and to be honest, no entertainment system, I was not pleased.
Insights
It would seem to have the money run buy. But it turns out that the choice is not so big (somewhere between 40-55 thousand euros). If you disable a personal problem with multimedia systems, the choice becomes wider. If you do not think about the options, then the options even more.
The most funny situation was a visit to the BMW dealership. There stood the following machines:
BMW M2 – 75 thousand euros. There I wept, wanted to, but couldn't.
BMW M140i – 59 thousand euros. This, of course, ridiculous.
BMW X1 – 55 thousand euros.
BMW X2 – 58 thousand euros. Yes. 58.
BMW X3 – 63 thousand Euro.
BMW X5 – 59 thousand euros
BMW X6 – 59 thousand euros
BMW 520d – 59 thousand euros
BMW M5 – 130 thousand euros
You just go in, say you have 59 thousand euros, and then just choose a car by size, or by color. But if the X5/X6 for the money – good option, M140i, or a couple of others that yourself.
I understand that over the last 10 years all cars have become more expensive, and I just need to earn more or get used to the idea. The same Koreans and Japanese were steadily and firmly go to 40-45 thousand Euro, if you take a car in good equipment. About Lexus not even going to say, everything's already at the level of the Germans.
