First acquaintance — Toyota Soarer, 2.5 liter, 1990
A little time passed from the day of purchase, it became warm, I started to work on the car, I didn’t really know where to start, there was no collective farm, but there were inept hands that managed to climb into the car, changed several gaskets + pump, thereby cured the consumption of oil and antifreeze.
But there was a problem with the oven. The cooling system turned out to be clogged, it was treated by washing with chemistry + washing with 90 liters of distilled water to flush to a clean state.
Between the exhaust manifold and the turbines, a gasket burned out, home-made, as it turned out later, but it was not the most unpleasant thing. At the entrance to the exhaust manifold after the turbines (down pipe) there was only one native stud and a bunch of snot in the form of welding, no tightness. It took me about 1.5 hours of work as a grinder to remove the junction of the exhaust pipes. But the problems didn't end there. Having collected everything, the car stopped driving, the pressure moved from 0.6 to 0.8, I did not understand what was the matter until I threw off the catalyst. Its honeycomb came off and turned 90 degrees, thereby interfering with the permeability of the exhaust gases. The catalyst was safely knocked out, but I did not like it at all. After a bit of travel, autumn came, and then winter, due to the lowered suspension and the lack of winter tires, the operation was postponed until warmer times.
