4 piston calipers, turbo construction started. — Toyota Celica, 2.0 liter, 1990
Well, that began the process of building a turbo engine.
As they say, tuning can be different, someone sculpts body kits, spoilers and bumpers on their cars, and someone first deals with the engine.
My brother stuck a 3SGTE from Toyota Caldina into his Celica, the engine was brand new, but of course it could not have done without alterations, there was no place for air intake, for an intercooler. But that is another story. but by the way, and the photo, though the quality is not so hot, the hand twitched :)
So, yesterday they came to us, brake pads, under our 4-piston brakes. The brakes are original, from the all-wheel drive, turbo Selick. And also the brake discs. But the first nuance came out immediately.
When my brother put these brakes on himself, his brake discs were from the Cruiser, and we have the original Selikovsky ones, but then it turned out that the Selikovsky ones are 4 mm thicker than the Kruzerovsky ones. Therefore, they categorically refuse to be placed, the disk rests on the ball. Right now we will think what to do with it. The brackets themselves (calipers) also had to be sharpened by 2 millimeters. Otherwise, they also rested on the rim. Everything is very tight. The brakes are huge... the picture I'll tell you something :)
But when you get behind the wheel of this car and drive… Ahhh, it’s an indescribable experience… it captures the spirit, the heart tends to the heels… deceleration from 180 is instant, but with such force that the head starts to hurt from blood pressure in the temples… Cosmic overloads… Basically, we were on fire. waiting for the engine :)
In the meantime, until it came to the motor, it was decided to start tuning with the brakes. Yes, it is correct, there is no powerful engine if there are no brakes. Standard Selicks will not cope with such power. The calipers were dismantled, they do not look very sad, but it was decided to paint them. Of course, we will paint in red, although there is an idea in black. but it's already in place.
I killed all day yesterday to clean them from fine rust and soot from the pads or whatever it is called. one of these days we will paint and prepare spacers :)
