Ring tires — logbook Toyota Altezza 2003

    Toyota Altezza 30 2003

Well, a little time has passed, so far there is no big news. Unless the tires came, but this is most likely next year. Special thanks to Swift.

This year I don’t have time for the ring, because. surfaced small kosyachki and had to spend finances to eliminate them, and not to prepare for the ring. :(

The tire itself says that it is not intended for use on public roads.

What does it mean, the composition itself is soft and wears out quickly, or is it due to the fact that there is no tread and there is a risk of getting into an accident? Who thinks about this?

PS - Here's an article about racing slicks.

In particular, they write about Nitto that:

On the test, the testers had four sets of racing tires. The acclaimed Hoosier R6 was paired with a Hankook Ventus Z214 with a new rubber compound, a new BFGoodrich g-Force R1 slick, and a Nitto NT01 semi-slick that was completely shaved down to a 3/32-inch tread depth. Hankook, BFGoodrich, and Hoosier came from the factory with 3/32" groove depths, so they didn't need to be topped off or run in for best performance. All tires in the test were in the popular size 225/45R17 .

Automobile

A 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX was chosen for the tire test. It has enough power and traction, especially since the Impreza is a common participant in motorsport events.

But the standard car was on racing tires, like a milkmaid wearing high-heeled boots instead of boots, so the car was fitted with Koni Sport dampers and Eibach Pro-Kit springs, and negative camber was also installed. These improvements allowed the tires to work in corners at maximum.

Several pairs of identical 17x7.5” ROTA SDR rims made it possible not only to quickly change tires, but also to keep the experiment clean.

Second place (tied with Hankook): Nitto NT01

Average lap time: 37.84

Best lap: 37.49

The Nitto NT01 hasn't been on the market for a few years, but since its return, it has benefited from an interesting tread pattern. The Nitto is the only tire in the group that needs to be topped off for best performance on dry pavement.

The new tire has a tread depth of 6/32" and can be used as a racing rain tire. After removing the top layer to a depth of 3/32 inches, only two longitudinal grooves remain, as with other tires. Removing the top layer costs extra money, but there is a choice of use, especially since it is the cheapest of all. Or you can not remove the top layer, but just ride it around the city or use it in races as is, the more the tread wears out, the better the results will be on dry pavement.

Thanks to its stability and ease of handling, the experts used it as a control tire. They ran the Nitto at the beginning of the test day and in the evening after the test was over to make sure the track conditions didn't change. In the morning first test session, the average lap time was 37.84 seconds, at the end of the day the average official time was 37.86: all this shows that the tire can be easily pushed to the limit of traction. The average lap time puts it in second place along with the Hankook Ventus Z214, and the fact that the tire is not afraid of high temperatures and at the same time practically does not wear out gives it another huge plus. The tire is recommended for use in all racing disciplines, its versatility and relative durability will appeal to many.

Let's see how she behaves not only in races, but also if you just drive around the city. Time will tell.
