Portage 2015. -River Volga
The second stage at the last Portage was the most difficult. Intertwined here heavy stages and extended day runs. The effect was not long in coming — the crews began to go the route who are due to technical breakdowns, and then because of fatigue and even of protest against overloads. But Portage is Portage, it is not a tourist ride, it is very heavy and extreme event, not in vain for eight years for our expedition there were no competing projects, and people from Portage to win many competitions at various levels. The first two days we had to get interesting and solid tracks from the Karelian Priozersk to Volgoverkhovye. It is exactly 1000 km the Route is rich in sights, between which either bad pavement or graders. Off-road, as such, no. Bad? And who said that the expedition should not be hauls? Who said that SU needs to be every day? Not at all. That's the idea. Our goal is to pass the route along the Volga, to feel the magnitude of this great river. I'm on this stage dreamed for several years, but somehow was not arranged geographically.
At this stage, in Tikhvin, happened I described the incident with the loss of a wallet with a driver's license. And thank God that the guy who found the loss was not too lazy to call and get back valuable document. This year I organize Portage of one machine, i.e. without backup assistants, and such a loss is promised a magical adventure on the route. Why not co-organizers? It is difficult to say. Extinct co-hosts for 8 years of the project. Someone will say that it is a sunset, someone will say that I can't work with people, someone will remember the difficult financial situation of the last years of the project, I will say this: the people organizing Portage needs to support the project. Sick to death. This virus was sitting in the team, but time changes people, people grow up, marry, divorce, find and lose a job. It so happened that for the 8th season of the organizers I was left alone, and the new has not come. Fortunately, over the years has accumulated invaluable experience that allows us to move the project to a single organizational force. The main thing — not to lose documents and to break it...
Survival mode we Portage has always been. Never in eight years of existence, the project did not breathe a full breast, and only the sponsors did not give and not let die my darling offspring. Every year, my mind slips a thought, "that's enough", but too powerful for I launched back in 2008, it is in such moments grabs me and makes to move on, to wallow and to prepare the next expedition. Some participants travel to the project from year to year, and looking forward to the next journey. And how can you fail?..
Spring comes, and I again rush to this whirlpool with a head. Back in March I was shaking with uncertainty, the feeling that nothing happens, but every day I am more calmed down, every day is the start of the Portage was getting closer, and white spots in the route are less. It was necessary to prepare a 7-8 thousand kilometers calculated and elaborated in detail the RAID. And the idea was to take a form and confiding in me in a tangible format. The roads on the Portage is never an end in itself. If there is a normal way we go through it, it is the rule. But most often between the most interesting sites of roads or not, or detours enormous. In any other country such a project as Portage just wouldn't have been born, but we have asphalt and still a novelty in many regions, and there, where we overcome the lack of roads, local residents travel daily to those cars that the destiny presented.
But in the long expeditions and "drive through the puddles" can kill equipment. Somewhere nedokrutil wizard, somewhere saved in the preparation of the car, and someone went "at random". Is it any wonder that they break on the route. Some less, some more, but the technique brings all. And it is important to be able and willing to confront difficulties.

All of the nodes, limited-slip differential front gear differential rear gear synchronized transfer case and a new reinforced axis "Tourism" (all production SHAFT RACING), was in working condition, without any, any comments and damage.
