A'PEXi ECV (part 1) — Toyota Corolla, 1.6 liter, 1993

The long-awaited device has arrived to control the noise level of the exhaust system.
I plan to install immediately after the exhaust pipe, because there are no flanges further up to the muffler.

A number of photos:

Soon we will see it in action and, of course, I will post a video with the engine running with an open and closed damper.
Thanks!

I have been looking at this device for a long time) I just have 61 myself, but it will be more abruptly than the Buddy Club, it lays ears in the cabin like in an airplane) ) ) it’s already starting to annoy me, and the cops have overcome it! A bit pricey, but great stuff! Congratulations on your purchase! I envy white envy)

three years ago I was thinking of doing something like this with my own hands, but here it turns out that there is no need to reinvent the wheel. +++++

I did it with my own hands, took the throttle from the Volga on the suction cable from the nine, met 1000r. Yuzayu already a year flight is normal.

Buddy, explain in a popular way how you put together this nonsense ...
that's it, I read your blog) thanks, I'll bet myself)

Also a great option! It's a pity you didn't write anything about it in the bortovik.

Yes, interesting device! =)

The damper is slightly smaller in diameter than the hole in the flange.
Exhaust gases travel further through the exhaust system at a slower rate, as they have a closed damper in their way, as a result of which, less noise.

ps: In the manual for APEXi ECV it is written that it is not recommended to drive with a fully closed damper. The consequences of such a ride, I think, are quite understandable.

D
Davinchy66 19.01.22

And can you be more specific about where the gases go when the damper is fully closed?

N
NVA 19.01.22

In general, I use it like this ...

With damper closed:
- warm up the car.
- Drive at cruising speed on the highway for long distances.

With a slightly ajar damper:
- quiet driving mode around the city

With a fully open damper:
— Tumble! =)

D
Davinchy66 19.01.22

That's exactly what confused me))) how about the closed one :)

l
levin24 19.01.22

Video from you! ))
So I'm also getting ready for spring, I pick up nishtyachki :) :) :)
Yes, with forward flow the same story as with xenon — most of them set it up somehow and quite.

N
NVA 19.01.22

My pleasure.
All alterations have left until spring. As I put it, I will definitely write it off and shoot the video already, promised =)

Everyone would think so about others - there would be no dissatisfied screams along the forward flow
=) ) )

l
levin24 19.01.22

Thanks! Very valuable experience and good advice! :)
I still want to put a normal forward flow, so that it’s good for me, and it doesn’t hit others in the ears and signaling ) )

N
NVA 19.01.22

I put it a long time ago between the exhaust pipe and the resonator, but the exhaust gases passing further have time to resonate - from which there is undesirable noise, bass.
It muffles significantly, but I definitely decided to put the damper right in front of the muffler. Thus, the noise will be minimal ... as close as possible to the drain.

In general, if there is a forward flow and you don’t want the neighbors to commit suicide, put the Apexi ECV right in front of the muffler =) The
flute, IMHO, will not be needed.

l
levin24 19.01.22

I'm assuming you put a damper on? Is it essential to muffle the sound of the exhaust so that the neighbors in the yard do not hang themselves? ) Or is it better to put a flute?

N
NVA 19.01.22

I will definitely do it in the summer.

a test piece, I also planned to do it myself, but my hands didn’t reach my main pipe for 62 zil 130 to help. the bass is normal, but I wanted to be quieter, so there is an example from whom to take. good luck!

Nothing sticks. You put such a stray in order to use it often enough, and not just to put it in, so you don’t need to clean anything.
Yes, and the motor should not smoke like that.

By the way, it’s interesting, but does soot settle from the exhaust on it - doesn’t it wedge? Or does it need to be cleaned?
