3rd stage of ADM Cup OpenRace — Toyota Corolla Levin, 1.6 liter, 2000
Before the start of this stage, I asked the organizers to let me put on combat slicks and move up a class to rivals with closer results (Mazda 3 MPS, Focus RS, Silvia Spec-R, Lotus Exige S).
But I was offered a transfer only if I lost all the points in the championship, which of course did not suit me ...
Well, since no fight was expected, I focused on testing my new rubber. It was interesting to try how the behavior of the car will change depending on which axle the a048 will be on, and on which Neova!
First session, half slicks from behind!
The usual behavior of the car, the same slight understeer in slow corners. But in high-speed corners, where oversteer, the car began to behave clearly better, the grip on the rear axle has improved, predictably and smoothly slides with all wheels at once, so you can attack a little more!
The result was not long in coming, 2.00.4 is my record in Myachkovo on road tires.
Second session, half slick front.
Behavior has changed radically! Even in slow corners, the understeer was almost oversteered! It was possible to attack and open in front of straight lines much earlier! After the first sector of the track, I got the impression that the car as a whole was much faster and my new record would not last long, but then it became scary in the high-speed combination - a clear tendency to skid, I had to noticeably slow down.
Yes, and braking suddenly appeared big problems, the rear wheels overbraked and just blocked! In front of the hairpin, I braked all in smoke :)
In general, despite the best speed on most of the track and for all my efforts, I did not manage to drive faster than 2.00.6 in this configuration.
