Filter design and replacement (08/29/10 added comments) - Toyota Celica, 2.0 liter, 1992
Constructive, what and how my Celica.
Engine compartment, general plan:
Gearbox radiator. Non-standard. The native was thick and small, now it is thin and long - with it there is more space for intercooler radiators.
Intercooler radiators:
The first is thick, but small:
the second is larger and with a fan. The fan and pump are constantly running, ensuring an optimal thermal balance.
coolant radiator. As noted earlier, it cools the engine coolant, which in turn also cools the engine oil. If possible, I will replace it with a thick tuning - and I will be calmer and the engine will be better.
There is no kondeya radiator, because no kondeya — thrown out due to lack of space.
I haven't checked the air filter since I bought the car. But now the hands "reached" and up to him. In SELIK, the so-called "cold" intake is organized. But the first photo shows a thick (3") pipe on the right side. The filter is hidden in a box in front of the left wheel. You can only get to it from below (on a pit and on a lift). The procedure is quite complicated - you need to unscrew a dozen dirty screws.
I opened the box, in addition to filters are also removed breathers
got the filter and pipe
the filter looked like a piece...
but there was no dust / dirt inside
I found a new (!, I don’t know where it came from) bucket in the garage and decided to wash the filter
Already washed compared to Mazda's Apexi filter
Because the filter is damaged, I decided to buy a new one, but there was no 3" filter available in all of Moscow. I had to buy ProSport:
ProSport has a 4" input, but the kit includes adapters for any input
Because Since it started to rain in Moscow, I decided to bring the filter higher in order to avoid water hammer. It turned out to be very easy to do: I did not install a bent pipe, I made a platform for the filter
in the end it got like this (did not feel the difference with the "cold" intake)
