Past — logbook Toyota Sprinter Marino 1995

Wheels.

This is what the car looked like when I bought it:

However, I immediately wanted to put the car on casting and 15 inch tires. I contacted a reseller-supplier of used wheels. Very quickly he brought me 195/55-15, but with winter tires. I decided to take it, since the disk parameters were suitable - offset +38, width 6J. But on winter tires in the summer, and even on GE, albeit with a gun ... In general, I did not wait for the promised month for summer tires from this seller, but rushed to the store.

Since I really wanted to, I bought what was available and similar in price - Goodyear Eagle Ventura, wheels that are purely civilian in nature, but with a dimension of 205/50-15 . The wheels are good, I drove them until 2007 and did not wear them out. But this haste has brought its bad results. The appearance of the two hundred and fifth rubber on 6-inch-wide wheels did not suit me in any way.

The sidewalls were "tits" - the disk is too narrow for them. I'm back to the seller - bring wheels with the same offset, but 6.5J. He nodded his head wisely. I brought it, but with a departure of +48. I still took it, tried it on - they don’t fit from behind. I returned it with an exchange condition, and as a result, only six months later, by the summer of 2003, he brought me others, but again, almost the same - a flight of +45. I took it, because they still get up, albeit close to the rear pillar.

Appearance has not improved much, because. due to the lack of a protective sidewall, the sidewalls still looked convex, not “sporty”. And the wheels were too deep in the arches. I calmed down only after ordering and buying Slik discs.

Damage/replacement of consumables

As such, I had only one breakdown. When everything broke down. Moreover, such a curious breakdown that does not affect the movement in any way.

In 2003, on the spot, when the selector was moved to D, a creak began to be heard in the automatic transmission area. With the hood open, a friend pressed the air filter box - the creak was gone. It turns out that one of the air filter mounts broke off - an ear welded to the motor support bracket on the side member. Why it happened is a mystery, there are not so many vibrations, the metal is thick. I got out of the situation - I did not screw in this bolt. Eliminated the problem only in 2008, when I removed the gearbox to install the torso.

In order to avoid breakdowns of components and assemblies, I try ahead of time, if possible, to diagnose and change spare parts. Timing belt replaced immediately after purchase at 59tys. km.

All links and rubber bands of the stabilizer were also replaced by 77 thousand. km. Twice I changed the tension belts of mounted units - by 77 thousand. km. put duplicates that safely cracked to 85tys. km, after which he put the original.

Somehow at 75 thousand. km, the motor began to annoy with a whistle on a cold one, a sound from mounted units. Then the sound disappeared. After another 2,000 km checked - the generator tension roller comes to an end. To begin with, I lubricated, and after 83 thousand. km replaced it with a new one, for one I replaced the bearing on another power steering tension roller.

At 110 thousand km. replaced the ball joint. Around the same run, the rear right shock absorber began to die. I solved the problem by installing the koni sport kit, at the same time I changed the upper supports of the front struts, anthers, bumpers and vibration isolators of the springs.

Other replacements - lambda probe, VVT clutch, candles (the old platinum ones are alive, they start up without problems in winter), generator bearings (they were quite alive, but squeaked for the first 5 minutes after launch, they were replaced from idleness when they were waiting for spare parts during the gearbox rebuild) , heater motor (started his own - did not lubricate in time). In 2010, the air conditioner was fully charged with the replacement of seals. I added freon before, but it didn't last long. In the summer of 2009, I had to turn it off altogether.

Approximately 90 thousand. km adjusted the valve clearances - 80% went beyond the nominal value or were at the upper tolerance.

What I remember about breakdowns - I will add.

Trunk

Trunk volume in this small car is surprisingly large. Without any tension, 4 wheels 185/60-R14 enter the trunk. Only the high side spoils the impression - it is difficult to load heavy objects. Soplatform Corolla / Sprinter has a trunk lid to the level of the bumper. Here, a similar construct is designed to increase the rigidity of the body, apparently so.

Of the improvements - a plywood floor with a door on a piano hinge, an electric lock, controlled by a free signaling channel.

Equipment

Standard equipment for the G-Type is gray velor and striped inserts. There were no extra accessories in the cabin. But the rear window is equipped with a plastic curtain with stripes. It occurs quite rarely. Due to the presence of this curtain, I did not do tinting on the rear window at all.

Friends

The person who supported me in difficult times is my friend Yura (on Drive2ru - uriy-p . The checkpoint rebuild would not have ended successfully without his participation. A purely practical person, at first he was very skeptical about the idea to change anything in a properly working Japanese. But then he got involved, and with the onset of the season he asked - well, what are we going to do this time ... In 2010, he moved to St. Petersburg, a city that he had been raving about since his military service.

Excellent Marino! And the attitude of the owner is great!
I love all those Corollas and Sprints from the 90's and can't help it!
