Changed the thermostat - Toyota Corolla Ceres, 1.6 L, 1992 to DRIVE2

In winter, my thermostat welled up. In general, the thermostat can jam in two positions. If it gets stuck in the closed position, overheating and engine failure will occur, because the coolant will circulate only in a small circle (pump - block - thermostat - pump). If the thermostat is stuck open, then the coolant will circulate only in a large circle (pump - block - thermostat - radiator - block), which means long warm-up and insufficient engine operating temperature are guaranteed. I hope it is not a secret for anyone that insufficient heating leads to increased gas mileage! My thermostat had not yet completely jammed, but when I went out into the street, the temperature arrow began to drop before my eyes.

You need to buy an original thermostat, because duplicates have a different opening temperature! The thermostat does not come with a gasket! Must be ordered separately.

Together with the thermostat, I decided to change the antifreeze. Let me remind you that the period for replacing antifreeze is every two years!

When working, take into account the following:
1. It is not necessary to unscrew the drain bolt from the block to the end, otherwise it is easy to miss it. Personally, in order to get it, I had to remove the generator.
2. If the thermostat is jammed, remove it carefully so as not to scratch the block walls.
3. After replacing antifreeze, for some time it is necessary to carefully monitor the temperature arrow and check the level of antifreeze in the radiator.

When I took out the old thermostat, I was very surprised! The production date was stamped on it ... " 92 5 " This thermostat was installed on the car at the factory!

-original thermostat (90916-03046) 338 rubles;
-gasket for him (16325-63011) 69 rubles.
-3 liters of green antifreeze Neste 570 rubles.;

interesting color differentiation))))) and how much does green change? after seven?)) In general, the replacement period for antifreeze depends on the stability of the additive package and it is best to follow the recommendations of a particular manufacturer when replacing it. Avtodatavskaya Kamasutra recommends changing the antifreeze every 40t.km for 100 bodies. Japanese native operating instructions recommend changing the antifreeze every two years. but what to do, of course you choose)))))

do not mislead people with the phrase "Let me remind you that the term for replacing antifreeze is every two years!" for example red changes once every FIVE years. everyone chooses antifreeze for the climate in which they live.

I absolutely agree with the climate. in my disgusting continental climate, it is better to replace it once a year, before winter.
