Fiberglass rules — logbook Toyota Chaser 1997

   Toyota Chaser 25 1997

After installing the v-mount, the hood did not get up, I had to make it from fiberglass. First, I made a matrix from native soot, and then a finished product from the matrix, painted it with a black mat, attached quick-releases, attached a grate and you're done. The whole operation took me a week and then in the evenings. By the way, the hood is removed entirely, which is very convenient during repairs and during training, the car heats up less and weighs only 3 kg. Look at the budget and compare with the price tag of a purchased hood :)
Everything is the same with a skirt.

No. 9 layers are enough for strength, and reinforcement will add more extra mass.

Did you do stiffeners on the hood?

Good job! I planned the same thing, but I just can not imagine how to do it. The car drives every day and it turns out that you can’t make a copy, but there is no extra hood :( What kind of fiberglass? Large fabric?

Yeah, I sealed my pressure chamber :) No, of course, you just need to roll it out normally, the part is thin, strong and light.

but I want to make the engine protection first ...

Titanic work, a robot with fiber, but it's worth it!
