Engine and front suspension repair — logbook Toyota Corsa 1990

      Toyota Corsa 15 1990

So let's continue.
The car drove to the garage and stood in the pit. Started taking apart the engine. He took off the radiator, exhaust with a turbine, timing, head, pan. There were no special problems with turning the bolts. The timing belt was in a deplorable state, the exhaust manifold went under replacement - instead of one stud, a hole was drilled through, and crookedly, and a bolt was inserted, because of which the previous owner had a siphon from under the turbine - the head in the exhaust area was all black. The camshaft and valves, and the whole head as a whole, were in good condition, except that a lot of soot had accumulated. Everything was dismantled, washed, valves lapped, MSCs replaced and put back together. True, it was not possible to wash the idle valve - neither VD-40, nor kerosene, nor carbcleaner and other solvents could dissolve the deposits that had accumulated in it, as a result it was replaced with a valve from the 4E engine, got up after a little refinement as a native. Next, the engine was taken out into the light of day and completely disassembled. The cylinders were in excellent condition, rings, liners, oil pump, pump and seals for replacement. Also, the fuel pump and pressure regulator in the fuel rail - the pump pressed very weakly, and the regulator was stuck in the closed position. The knee turned out to be bored out - the root was under 0.5 and the connecting rod was under 0.25, although the seller said that the shaft was under the standard, in the end I had to go to change the liners. Washed, assembled block, replaced the clutch and rolled the block into place, replacing the cartridges in 3 out of 4 pillows. Further slowly collected, wound up without problems! True, due to the fact that there was no sealing ring in the cover of the distributor, water got there, froze, and after the engine warmed up, it melted and pierced the cover of the distributor. On this, further repairs were postponed until spring.
In parallel with the repair of the engine, the front suspension, steering and hodovka were made. Tie rods, rack and drive anthers, rack bearings, wheel bearings, ball bearings, silent blocks of levers, racks, springs, brake hoses and pads went under the replacement. In the process, only one problem arose - the lever nut that was inside the spar was not fixed and the bolt was scrolling, I had to cut the bolt with a grinder, then cut the spar with it, install and weld a new nut and weld the spar back. In general, it turned out a new hodovka front. The truth was redone and finalized in the spring, but I will write about this later.

Did a great job! Under the hood, Japanese engineering beauty of the 80s), nice to see. The radiator only confuses with its size. On the walls of the cylinder, as I understand it, the hon is still preserved with might and main.

Yes, the Toyota blocks are very strong, there is usually no wear, the radiator copes well, the native one was only 3 centimeters longer, though a little thicker, but they almost do not differ in volume of liquid, if it gets warm in the heat, I’ll put a thick tuned all-aluminum;)
