Oil pressure - logbook Toyota Land Cruiser 1978
Today I finally realized my plan - I measured the oil pressure in the diesel engine with a mechanical pressure gauge.
On a cold 6,
after warming up at idle 2.5-3,
at an average speed of up to 7,
it does not go higher at any speed.
Feel better…
The sensor is worth it. And it shows something. More precisely, it shows a certain voltage in a certain circuit. And this indication depends on a number of random factors-contacts: on the sensor terminals, on the indicator terminals, on the health of the circuit in the indicator ... In short, I wanted to check it for a long time, because the replacement of the sensor did not clarify the picture - the arrow showed something different. I also changed the indicator to another one that is not new. Again, it's not clear.
Now I've measured it and I'm sure. In winter, I will put a mechanical pressure gauge on an ongoing basis. Plus an oil temperature gauge.

But really, is there no sensor or something, on the panel?
there is but WHAT!
I can't see a damn thing about him either.

There is. But it is useful to know without intermediaries.
it’s necessary, like I have
a mechanical pressure gauge - a separate pipe goes from the engine to it. Everything is simple and there are no electricians =))))

But here he is not. I will put a mechanical pressure gauge and a temperature sensor with a whistle.
With a whistle, of course, the best option!
Should be two, on one channel.
Tomorrow after tomorrow I'll get to the car and take a picture.
The first switch (barrel) the second lamp for cut-off (cone)
One oil pressure sensor. By the way, maybe it has cut-offs, because the standard pressure gauge does not plow from it.
But here he is not. I will put a mechanical pressure gauge and a temperature sensor with a whistle.

That's what I want to do. And also put a temperature indicator of oil and water with a sound alarm - you never know what happens, but you won’t notice it right away in an adrenaline frenzy.
What about the low pressure fuel cutoff sensor?
I only had hope for him and the old engine.
And he did not disappoint.
At the military 76 there was the same temperature cut-off.
That's what I want to do. And also put a temperature indicator of oil and water with a sound alarm - you never know what happens, but you won’t notice it right away in an adrenaline frenzy.
Well, you have pressure, You need to look for new ones like that! In general, a Toyota diesel engine has enough points for the eyes! Damn Japs!
I join.
Kiichiro Toyoda should be respected already for the fact that such a wonderful device came off the assembly line of his factory.
So for sure, and the conclusion is that the pressure reducing valve works as it should.
Toyota really knows how to build an engine, I am very amazed that such an experienced engine gives pressure "according to the book.
I wanted to write about 7 points at any speed, and why it doesn't go higher. If I write a truth known to everyone, I'll forgive you :)
In order to ensure sufficient oil pressure at any engine operating conditions, and in order to eventually compensate for the wear of the oil pump itself and the engine (liners, camshaft bushings), the pump is designed to have excessive performance. And so that this excess pressure at high speeds does not squeeze out the seals, does not break the filter, there is a pressure reducing valve in the system, which, when a certain threshold is exceeded (in your case, apparently, this is 7 points) works and dumps the "excess" oil back into pallet.
