Subaru and Toyota will still resurrect Hachiroku - logbook Toyota Sprinter Trueno 1993
Deserving respect and support, the idea to revive Hachiroku visited the bright minds of fellow corporations Toyota and FHI not so long ago.
In the summer of 2007, the first rumors appeared: we will revive the AE86! Later it became known more: the car will be put on the chassis from the Subaru Legacy, but with rear-wheel drive, equipped with a 2.0-liter horizontally opposed engine with 220 hp. Subaru will provide the source code, and Toyota will fine-tune the suspension, drivetrain and engine, ensuring a low development cost.
In 2008, Winding Road photographers caught a car in white camouflage, which was immediately proclaimed "the one" - Subota! A new generation of Hachiroku was already planned for 2009.
At the end of 2008, Toyota and Subaru announced that due to the financial crisis, it was not necessary to wait until 2012 for the appearance of Saturday.
However, the future president of Toyota Corporation, Mr. Akio Toyoda, is not going to curtail the project. Work on the Subota continues, he says, and the arrival of a cheap new rear-wheel-drive sports car is a great chance for Toyota to gain a foothold in a market that is just emerging.
The company's management has not yet come up with a name for the future car, its code name is "086AE". It is no coincidence that the body of the famous Toyota Corolla Levin coincides with the brand, this is done for fans of the model, whom Toyota will soon give a date with a dream. Mr. Toyoda noted that the release of the sports car has been postponed until March 2012 due to the fact that Toyota engineers will have to fasten D-4S direct fuel injection technology to the Subarovskoye boxer.
Regarding the price of the sports car, the future president said that Toyota would not ask for more than 2,000,000 yen (about $20,000).
I think this is very good news for some. The price is nice too :)
Of course, this could all be nonsense.
