swap swap… — Toyota Corolla, 1.3 liter, 1997
In appearance, everything is simple, the block is the same, everything will fit as it should. Yes, and indeed, it takes 5-6 hours to transfer the motor, but this is only a mechanic on the motor, there is still, gur, conder, vacuum system, and wiring nah))
The motor was removed on Friday, at 6 pm they slowly began to work, I thought on Saturday to remove it and put it on, but everything went smoothly and calmly, at 21:00 everything was ready to remove the motor
Yes, and I really figured out why put off until tomorrow, what can be decided now) oops!
everything is corny simple, we unscrew the subframe, leaving the motor hanging on the upper pillows that are on the side members, then we lower the car down, a couple of pallets, everything is ready, we unscrew the bolts from the pillows, we raise the body up, only carefully so that we don’t forget anything, the backstage is on the gearbox can catch on the body, for this you need to move the motor forward a little, then everything is free.
We were about to go home, after a smoke break I understand that I still have strength, and in principle I can continue, since there is a gearbox on the pillows, I decided to separate the motor from the gearbox, the bolts are unscrewed, a couple of movements, the motor is removed, the flywheel is different from the fe, there is a little more basket, I’ll put a new basket with a clutch later, for now we rearrange the flywheel with all the things on the motor, and assemble it in the reverse order, plus you need to change the engine support bracket, also if you have air conditioning, then you need it from the motor, this is due to the fact that in the same place there is a supply and discharge of oil from the turbine.
Day two, the motor is ready for installation, but you need to deal with the electrics, we disassemble 2 braids, we are horrified, we assemble one from 2, in fact, we only need the part that goes to the starter and generator + to the fuse box from the old braid, I’m not afraid of wires, I’ll figure it out in any case, by myself, but this is a real ahtung, at that moment I began to understand that the mechanics are simple, but getting everything else up and running is a problem. Stock up on clerical knives and patience)
The motor is installed, the mechanics are essentially finished, there are a few questions about connecting vacuum hoses, there is not a word about this in the book, PPC autodata))) There are differences in the thermostat housings, so as not to change the cooling hoses, you need to change the thermostat cover from Fe to FTE, at the same time, replace one mounting stud, to be sure, I also twisted the temperature sensor fteshny.
It remains to deal with the wiring, I was too tired, and physically and most importantly mentally, do not plan such work for how many days, I am writing this and I understand that at least a week is needed to do everything right and most importantly beautiful, haste is only an enemy. I dropped everything at 18:00 and went home, feeling after 2 days of work. that the ice rink moved you, you need to lie down for a day, at least I’ll watch TV)))
And then deal with this crap, and everything will be fine.
Igor, just my wiring is completely different, I assembled one of 2, the only thing is the Starlet braid, it is 30-40 cm longer than necessary.
YES, yes, yes, the wiring is the most Opa ... because of the wiring, I had a car for about 2-3 months (((I was waiting for the electricians, then my hands dropped.
And imagine your wiring topology is similar and differs only in some places. but for me it was totally different, after 2-3 weeks of continuous torment, I realized that it was not mine and as a result I ordered completely the wiring from the Jarva, it was easier that way)))
hello, to be honest, there is no time now and I’ll write especially here, I’ll write some time) you can lay it out yourself, I don’t mind.
hello))) join us at swaper.info $) if you don't mind sharing with those who wish about the history of your typewriter;)
To be honest, before starting work, I thought that the braid would be less of a problem than replacing the engine itself ... But looking at you, tangled in wires, he quickly changed his mind)))
There are two options to install a distributor motor and redo the electrics, or to assemble a coil motor, but then you need to change the control unit and a bunch of other things, the first one is certainly cheaper, with regards to electrics, you need to redo part of the braid and connectors, I don’t have a ready description of how to do this, and if there is no understanding of electricians, then don’t even try, look for a normal electrician or local swappers
hello, I conceived the same project, removed the engine, prepared it for installation, and realized that I was stuck with the wiring, can you tell me? I got a motor from ep82. and I had a 4e-fe reel. I don't have a problem with electrics at all. I'm looking for some advice, maybe you can help me.
