First MOT — logbook Toyota MR-S 2003
Of course, this entry was supposed to be the first in the BZ, but, as they say, "better late ...". Maintenance was carried out at the beginning of the season. The following work has been done:
• Changing the oil and filter in the engine. For the last four years I have been using Castrol GTX Magnatec 5w30 on different cars, so I decided to pour it into MR-S. Oil filter - original, Toyota, designed for forced modifications of 3S series engines (it has a larger filtering surface);
• Replacing the air filter. Again, for several years now I have been using Japanese Union filters - this type is intended for motors of the 4A and 5A series, but according to the catalog it is used on the MR-S;
• Replacement of spark plugs - Denso SK16R11 Iridium. The American manual for the MR-2 Spyder specifies this type;
• Oil change in the gearbox - Castrol Driveline Syntrax Universal 75w90 GL4/GL5;
• Partial replacement of fluid in the hydraulic clutch - Toyota SMT Fluid (a very rare thing, has no analogues, had to be ordered from Yoshkar-Ola). Before the next season I will completely change the fluid in the entire system;
• Replacing the battery - put Solite with dimensions similar to the factory;
• Replacement of wiper blades. The previous owner installed the same Champion brushes, the left one did not clean its area well (due to the geometry of the windshield). In my opinion, nothing is better than the original brushes for the MR-S, which is why Denso was supplied - DMS-550 on the driver's side and DM-648 on the passenger side. They clean perfectly!
Coolant fluid, brake fluid and pads were replaced by the previous owner before the car was sold.
Despite the rather tight layout under the hood (rear :-), the above maintenance operations are quite easy - you just need to remove the standard body strut (or also an additional one, as in this case).
In terms of money, the cost of maintenance goes like a Corolla.
Of the upcoming replacements before the next season - a clutch kit (already bought Drive Joy).
It happens!
Several of my friends also have Solite - so far they have not complained.
