Radiator - Toyota 4Runner, 3.0L, 1995
We did not have time to drive away from the house in the direction of the spring, as at the very first traffic light it became clear that we were floating from under the hood ... We stopped and looked ... in the area of the radiator plug, the shelf of the upper cavity and the honeycomb are wet and the moisture evaporating gives a cloud ... Well, it's good at least, what doesn’t pour ...
Okay ... it sips a little - not scary ... Coolant does not go away with terrible force - this is the main thing. Go…
We flew 200 km to the spring ... "refueled" with spring water (not into the car, but into bottles / cans for ourselves), drove back ... We stopped for a bite ... when after that they started the car again, it seemed that it was soaring stronger ... We climbed under the hood ... looked at everything thoroughly ... it turned out that there was a reason, apparently, some pieces of red rubber were periodically observed in the upper cavity of the radiator ... most likely, it was just the seal of the joint of the upper cavity ... I suppose it just crumbled from time to time and fell out of its groove ... found the largest the gap, tried to roll it up a little ... in the end, it was still not possible to achieve a complete absence of leakage ... at idle it keeps normally, does not even get moisturized, but it is worth raising the speed above 4000 as from one or two places it starts to run in a trickle ... well, okay ... anyway, the engine rarely spins above 4000 ... the remains of antifreeze were topped up ... And if anything, we also have a bunch of ronic water ... maybe we'll get there.
We got there successfully… we almost didn’t even lose water, although it was still slipping, as evidenced by the steam coming from under the hood.
Well, apparently it's time to change the radiator ...
We ordered a non-original. There are two options for our motor, thin (45 mm) and thick (54 mm) ... Honestly, I don't know which one we have ... but even if we have 45, then there will still be enough space for 54 - the space between the fans and the motor is.
Nena new non-original radiator a little less than 10000r. Coming at the end of the week.
The original is not much more expensive than 15,000 (although there were some completely unrealistic price tags, but we still did not understand what they were about), but the waiting period from a month is not good.
In general, we are waiting for a new radiator.
PS: Just now I thought that a thicker radiator, probably for the "Arabs" with the aim of greater heat transfer ... means it will warm up longer in winter ... Although we have electric fans tied to a temperature sensor at the exit from the radiator ... So it works on the fact of heating / coolant cooling. But in the summer, any traffic jams in any heat should be crap ...: o) And in winter you can put a cardboard box in front of the radiator; o)
Price tag: 10,000 ₽ Mileage: 340,000 kmAs a completely irresponsible statement, I can suggest that it can be any more or less similar in capacity ... well, in size, of course.
However, I would prefer "native", because everything will be regular and tidy.
At one time he had a forced-temporary "collective farm" on his "Boy", which failed several times on the way. Instead of a leaked "native" radiator, I had to install Svyatogorovsky (aka Moskvich Kaleko, aka 41st Azilk, aka AZLK 2141), from which a branch pipe slid several times on the road. However, while the pipe remained in place, we must pay tribute, the aluminum radiator regularly coped with the cooling of the 2-liter engine both in traffic jams and at speed.
we now have a radiator from an UAZ at all :) we punched our own on a trip through the woods) I
wonder what other fit ...
