side cover. — Toyota Celica, 1.8 liter, 2001
so we got to the most difficult - the rear fenders with racks. previously bought another 6 meters of film, and made a pattern:
cut out so that there would be a minimum of scraps …
and first we decided to start from the roof!
then prepared the sidewall, puttied all the Kotska and bumps
And away we go!
then, to celebrate that everything is working out, I decided to try to seal part of the opening))
then they hung the door, screwed the handle, the mirror ...
And I was not even too lazy to climb onto the roof and take a picture from above ...

True, I subscribe) in my life I would not have thought that this was the first experience of working with film
the hair dryer was used in the garage - washed, but on the weakest mode. in general, you can also home, it just heats as much as you need and does not overheat to holes. At home, a trifle fit just like that.
but it turns out you can ... the main thing is to prepare everything. and if there is suddenly bare metal somewhere - the primer is good and the paint is at least from a cylinder.
yes, this is a difficult, but interesting business. I myself came across this. I liked looking at your project. Huge respect, as they say
70 is twice thinner if I'm not mistaken. The film guys recommended episode 88.
The puttying process is simple - you clean it, putty it, sand it evenly with a bar, then prime it and with a fine sandpaper with water one more time so that the surface becomes smooth.
Well done. Why not K70000? Can you tell the process of puttying, at the very heap of kotsok.
No, I didn't glue it. but it is recommended to pass with a primer, and before that - with a degreaser.
Tell me, did you additionally glue the corners with something? I just had a film bulging in the corners ...
And how are the joints and corners? I have, without using a soapy solution, the corners floated ...
thanks! I will try to buy a white mat as soon as possible and seal at least part of the car.
Well, it’s clear, I just have a constant problem that it peels off on concave surfaces where strong tensions are obtained, so I thought at least someone could find out about the effectiveness of the primer for such places.
on average, 5-6 years, it seems to me, then it shuffles already ...
on the bumper, yes, it makes sense to glue in pieces. try to make seams in inconspicuous places.
Thanks for the answer, but how much does the film go approximately? I’m wondering how to fit exactly deep bulges, here I have a front bumper of a very complex shape, it’s unrealistic to fit it from one piece, because the film simply won’t physically stretch like that, but I don’t know yet how to pick up the pieces correctly.
Hello) I did not use the primer, I do not know. It was my first experience. Perhaps with it it is even better at the edges and on the bulges it sticks. Many years later, it was glued only inside the handles (it was really tight there, and in the openings, it was also tight there. The rest is held without problems. I smoothed it, yes, from the center to the edges.
Cool, I also want to do something similar, listen, how do you fit concave surfaces, there is always a tightness and in the heat the film can peel off, I read about the primer, but does it really help so well? And how best to smooth the film on such healthy parts, I usually saw ironed from the center to the edges, as it were, in a semicircle.
