New gas springs - Toyota Sera, 1.5 liter, 1990
Today I took a pre-ordered medicine for the treatment of one of Sera's chronic sores - "door incontinence" :)
The doors of this "butterfly" are pushed into the upper position by gas springs with a fairly decent force - 120kg, and after restyling 135kg.
Without these springs, it is problematic to lift the door even for a physically healthy man, however, it does not reach the complete loss of working capacity of native springs, with trouble-free operation. My springs, as well as Sera herself, are more than 20 years old, however, they have not completely lost their efficiency and help open doors, and in warm weather, the effort is enough even to hold one of the doors in a vertical position. However, when it gets cold ... yes, the force drops, it's gas ... For normal holding of the door, a spring force of about 100 kg is required.
The Serovod community in the Russian Federation was looking for options to replace and restore these springs.
Options
- recovery, i.e. filling with new gas (about 60 atm) and oil was done by the guys in St. Petersburg. Unfortunately, I did not find such an option in Nske.
- addition, i.e. parallel to the semi-dead original spring, a removable additional gas spring is welded from the trunk of a nine or Niva. So did the guys in Barnaul. Cheap, cheerful and functional. But personally, I do not like such a collective farm.
- collective farming, i.e. self-assembly of an analog of three gas springs from nines and Niv (Nivovsky is stronger) with a total effort similar to the original. IMHO construction is not the most reliable and plus it is also non-separable (from what I saw in the photo), although inexpensive (a gas lift from a VAZ costs about 250-400 rubles)
- order - there are several offices engaged in the production of gas lifts to order. But there is a limitation - the order is completely according to your characteristics, the minimum lot is 30 pieces, the price tag is about 40-60 euros. There is an option to use ready-made, "serial" elevators, on which the required endings (ball, thread) are simply installed, this is inexpensive, 30 euros. But the closest, suitable force is 1500N, i.e. 153kg. Alas, I did not like it, because. with such an effort, another problem appears - CLOSE the door, even if it is weighted with soundproofing. And the reliability of custom-made, actually formally "furniture", i.e. intended for indoor use, springs do not cause delight. 10-15 years as the originals, they obviously will not last (thin rod, small cylinder diameter, rod coating - plastic).
Therefore, as the "president" put it (and his words are "cast in granite") - "waved a purse" (purchase, right, among merchants and oligarchs, but for me, "scrotum") and ordered the most, that neither is the original . It cost 9300 rupees. I ordered "post-restyling", i.e. reinforced, 135 kg. Now passengers are not threatened with quartering by the guillotine.
By the way, the manufacturer is the most that neither is Kayaba!
Includes all anthers and related consumables for installation. Somewhat disappointed packaging made of polyethylene, although quite thick. Why not cardboard? Indeed, during transportation, blows to the stem are quite possible, and a defect in the stem for such a spring is simply fatal. It would seem that spending 1 bucks on packing a part worth 150 bucks is quite reasonable, but ...
Issue price: 9 300 ₽If the old ones have already been removed, then I think I managed to be surprised how difficult they are, I would even say it’s not possible to push through. And of course congratulations and a little envy!
ps a little = a lot, a lot!)
