Knock sensor (- Toyota 4Runner, 3.0 liter, 1992
in general, I was driving to a nuclear plant, somewhere 120 km, and suddenly the check light came on, the car began to blunt. Turned it off, started everything fine, went back on fire. I went to the diagnostics, the masters said that the detonation sensor was swearing, it was necessary to change it. Well, I think okay, I went, ordered, its price is almost 4 thousand! Two weeks passed and the sensor came.
the most interesting thing is the location of this sensor. like any knock sensor, it is attached to the block, but then the Japs showed off their ingenuity and installed it. yes, very far! namely, on top of the collapse of the blocks ...
I came home from work at 9 am, drained the antifreeze, removed all the pipes, disconnected the throttle, removed the intake manifold (it took about 2 hours) and a beautiful view of the fuel rails, injectors, temperature and pressure sensors opened up ... but there was no knock sensor. Okay, I sat down at the Internet, and, as it turned out, the sensor is even further away right under the intake manifold.
Thanks to the Internet, according to the diagram, I found the wires leading to the sensor, and one of them was interrupted. All soldered, started, working!
Well, I took the opportunity to adjust the valves.
By the way, I can sell anyone who needs a new knock sensor, I never needed it))
