A bummer with a rear lip :( - Toyota Mark II, 2.0 liter, 1993
Went today to the service of the Chinese, posomtrel wheelbarrow. Everything is ready, but ... the quality of work is terrible (((
What struck me most of all was how they made the rear lip - they attached it to the bumper so that an uneven gap formed between the bumper and the oboe. There is the same gap between the wing and the rear lip. And all this painted, PPC full
Said to cover at least with sealant. What are the options here? The body kit is hard, fiberglass.how to attach it exactly to the bumper if it does not fit perfectly?
In general, the car began to look like this:
Here's what the back cover should look like:
Here it fits perfectly to the bumper, but for me it doesn’t fit perfectly. And the place is prominent, IMHO even the sealing gum for body kits here will look ugly.
I don’t know ... I’m not strong in such matters ... I can ask a bodybuilder of a friend who puts all sorts of body kits and sculpts himself ... just add a photo in more detail what exactly is the trouble
Yes, this should be solved somehow, but in a non-Chinese service, this repair would cost 45-55 thousand, and in a good one, 70 thousand. I don’t have that kind of money, I handed it over to the Chinese.
They say to this gap: we can’t do it, it’s the only way, the bumper is not original.
And if I myself do not offer a specific course of action, then they only repeat: we cannot do it.
There is also a sealing gum for body kits, but in my opinion they don’t make it in the middle of the bumper, and you have to wait 2 weeks for it and you need to tear it off to put the lining, but this is unrealistic.
Are there any other options besides sealing the gap with sealant?
this is a question for a bodybuilder … and if, for example, I ask a friend a bodyworker such a question, he will say — shit is a question, we will do it! but how - I, a non-specialist, should not worry about it, ... build up, cut or whatever ...
It was dark behind, and the camera on the phone was not ice. The front turned out better, except for the gap above the bumper ...
I would post a photo of the rear bumper ...
and the front turned out well in my opinion)
By the way, the same jamb turned out with the color as in the photo - the bumper is much whiter than the color of the car that has faded over time.
The lip is already on the screws and cannot be removed. Yes, the money is gone. I will send my wife to a driving school, she will learn how to drive this car, I think this will not happen yet))
can still send the Chinese to explore the Chinese wall, and make the rear bumper from a normal master?
That's what I told them when I handed it over. But the lip turned out to be uneven and very hard, the adhesive tape did not hold it.
And yes, the seam will crack, that's for sure. And the sealant is quite elastic and if it is not painted, then there should be no problems.
Can you post a picture of your seam on the bumper?
the rear lip probably needs to be glued and plastered … flush with the bumper …
my front bumper is assembled from 2 halves — the main fasteners are riveting … but also not ice — cracks along the seam immediately upon impact. the connection is not rigid ... and water accumulates from the inside
There is a crack right in the middle of the bumper under the turn signals - is this the junction of 2 parts?
there are no photos from the inside ... (
and from the outside, these are more or less
visible
:
The 2nd photo is not my car, but I have a similar effect) True, I painted it along with the rear bumper.
yeah. I have the same trouble. The lip got up with gaps, temporarily put on an elastic band for body kits, most likely spliced in the summer
