Gear selection mechanism repair. — Toyota Celica, 2.0 liter, 1995
The so-called "helicopter" of the gearbox was partly to blame for the fuzzy gear shifting, especially the first one.
The play on the lever felt quite large.
What kind of clarity can we talk about if the lever can work like a stirrer ?!)
The trouble was in one of the two silent blocks that are in the eyelets of the gearbox cables.
It was simply broken)
They are sold only with levers, although they are perfectly removed from them ...
Having smoked the forums, I came across a simple solution. Instead of silent, a bearing with the desired dimensions is selected. In my cables (E56 box) it is 22X8X7, [outer diameter] X [inner diameter] X [cage width]
The bearing sat in a moderate tightness. Various washers and bushings for the helicopter were also replaced.
The result is super clear gear shifting and an incredibly rigid lever, no backlash at all!
Well, a car with a sporty character, what can I say. So it should be, for her this is the norm :)
