Body — logbook Toyota Starlet, 1988

I probably should have started with this, but since I registered after the body repair, I started from the end.

I read everything from the fact that it turns out to be absolutely impossible to find anything on the body, but if you still have it, it’s cheaper to buy for a new car than for my girlfriend in her prime. Therefore, a brutal decision was made and the bottom was taken for the donor body parts, and these are four poliks from the VAZ 2101, and the thresholds from the same car began a 3-month epic called shove not shove.

So, the first stage is the bottom was gradually cut out polik by polik while the new metal was cut and fitted, while I never practiced this craft and it turned out to be quite difficult.
After the floor was in place, I already decided that half the work was done, as I was wrong, this was just the beginning. Since we worked in the evenings after work, starting from 9 pm and until 11, the work dragged on for a long time.
The thresholds are also an interesting point, they are wider in size and of a different shape than the native ones, so it took them much more time, and that they had to be welded to something, and everything on which they had to hold on was rotten, so the preparation process took quite a lot time, energy and nerve. But the most interesting is ahead...
Well, the most interesting and requiring creativity were the rear arches, which turned out to be unreasonably expensive and they had to wait about a month. Therefore, I did not hesitate and decided to make them myself. Two and a half months were cut out, after which they were welded, and the so-called side was made by myself with the help of fiberglass for the first time, I think it’s not bad, although it’s not for me to judge.
After the welding work was completed, wherever it was necessary, they straightened, puttyed and started painting. Initially, I planned to cover the bottom of the car with gravitex and paint it in the main color, but then the thought arose, what if the bottom is left black ?! And when the first layer of gravitex was passed, I finally decided that it should be black to be sure, a layer of black soil was applied on top of the gravitex. The main color came by itself and as always the budget option is three layers of white ground. So far, during the use, one drawback was noticed, that the soil is porous and you just can’t brush off the dust from it, but nothing in the future will change the color of the machine again)
