Let there be light! — Toyota Corolla, 1.3 liter, 2009
The other day I took care of the issue of modernizing the light in the headlights of my typewriter.
Native dipped well, just did not suit at all. I can see perfectly well at night even without light, but with native lamps (headlights), driving around our night (90% unlit) city is simply dangerous.
There was an impression that the lamps simply emphasized the darkness prevailing on the street.
Visibility is disgusting, if the cars and the road are still somehow visible, then pedestrians can only be detected by the mat or in the immediate critical vicinity of the hood.
A trip to the officials regarding xenon in the near hello to a 20-minute lecture that, in these headlights, it is almost impossible to set xenon so that it does not blind anyone, led me to make a decision not to engage in the installation of "collective farm" light. And approached the problem from the other end.
Beginning the service center recommended to put halogens of increased brightness and a colder color temperature and gave the coordinates where all this is sold at reasonable prices.
After consulting with the community on this site, the choice was made to:
PHILIPS BLUE VISION 9006 (HB4) 4000K XENON/HID EFFECT
Which were purchased in the recommended place.
In parallel, probably out of anger, I decided to change something else, and bought new diode lamps in the front dimensions with a directional light beam (bought a lot of things but not yet stuck, there was no time).
they were installed in place of the old ones shown in the next photo.
By the way, the new diodes shine just deadly, during the day in the autumn sun they are visible with a bang, in the evening you can fly away. Old ones in the furnace (they cost almost twice as much and did not shine so kosherly). So I highly recommend! (who liked it, I'll give the old ones for rummaging with pickup :-))
Results:
1. Illumination on the road from the dipped beam has become much more pleasant.
2. The visibility of objects such as a pedestrian has improved (I can’t say what became like during the day, but noticeably better).
3. According to the shades of the head light, now I don’t have a car, but a Christmas tree
- dimensions 6500 K
- near 4000K
- far 2900K the
difference is noticeable by eye.
So photos of the modding!
Photo with only the dimensions of the new sample included (see photo 2). It can be seen that the type of headlights shine - the beam directed forward is clear, very bright.
New low beam lamps with a cool tint and increased brightness Philips (see photo 1). The color is very close to the dimensions, although the shade is more yellow.
All headlights are on. Unfortunately, it is impossible to fully convey the shades, but it is noticeable that the farthest (closest to the grate) yellows the most - you can see this in the photographs best by the shades of the "stars" that the rays of the flashlights left in the camera's optics.
PS I received carte blanche from the officials to install (on my own) DRL from Philips to the foglight connector (they checked all the wiring). Therefore, the idea of u200bu200b"eyelashes" has so far been abandoned.
Issue price: 750 ₽ Mileage: 7200 kmPhilips DRLs cost 5 LEDs - $60, 6 LEDs - $110, 7 LEDs - $150 for a pair with wires and some kind of connection chips, respectively, they differ in module length - 1 LED + 5 cm approximately. The smallest module is about 14-15 in length. Diodes in photo # 2 - $ 14 per pair.
It is possible, I think about it, but not so much. The new lamps are quite satisfying. And just lay out 300 oyro for the head optics, like a toad presses. I'd rather buy beautiful and correct wheels for myself ;-)
Thank you, but I have already made a decision, I won’t install xenon without changing optics, my friend has the same car, it’s super cool, but the upper limit of the light is smeared and no matter how you tune it, it’s blinding. So either new optics or substitutes for now in the form of brighter but adjustable lamps.
Yes, since the new year, regular xenon is outlawed.
hello =) Yes, the low stock light is just terrible, I also changed it, only for xenon =) It was a pleasure to drive with xenon and I had it set correctly, I never blinded anyone (even the oncoming traffic hardly blinked). If I were you, I would still put xenon =) In general, well done, good luck on the roads =)
Thanks for the information, buying optics is not a big problem, especially since I ride a lot in Europe and can bring directly from there. But so far, the issue is not particularly acute.
You can put regular xenon, if there are banknotes. How to install is described here: mytoyota.su/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=894&start=0
I’m thinking about it, but I’m not in a hurry to implement it, and so I poured a lot of money into the car a month for fools. I'll take time out for modding and tuning until the new year.
Looks very good. But if it is possible to put regular xenon with optics, then this is best.
I haven't bought them yet. Today I wanted to but my hand trembled and I bought myself another toy - Casio ProTrek 40 alarm clock :-)
It’s for sure that at night and in cloudy weather you can’t see anything with native lamps, but smart people say that there are lamps for the neighbor and more abruptly than the ones I bought (like Osram and some Japanese), but I couldn’t find them here, and ordering on e-bay means waiting 4-6 weeks for delivery.
you need to do something like this, in cloudy weather you can’t see anything anymore ...
Yes, it is much better, it cannot be compared with xenon, but with what it was, the difference is very noticeable.
the dimensions are very good =) I also want to change myself to LEDs and shove xenon into the fogs =)
:-) I also really liked the dimensions, I didn’t expect such crumbs to shine so badly. And my foglights have not arrived yet, I ordered them with my head almost at the same time.
I ordered foglights and have already received them, all the same, PTF is a rather specialized lamp and does not replace one another. But I will also put cold light in the PTF, unless of course I find suitable ones.
I am quite satisfied with the installed Philips, now at least something is visible in our impenetrable darkness (the city is very poorly lit at night)
Excellent, both in appearance and functionality
! I also had xenon, but in connection with the new Rules, I took it off. They say that only Russian cars are "pulled" for the presence of non-factory xenon, but decided not to risk it.
Although … gairs say that there won’t seem to be any complaints about the Corolla, a double-edged sword, in general. So for now I’m driving with “oak†light bulbs.
Well, at the expense of experience, you love me, but you wouldn’t risk it, overheating and, accordingly, deformation of the lamps are possible, and hello guarantees.

unfortunately I don’t remember exactly what was written on the removed lamps, but I remember for sure that the Philips were exactly the same power as the stock lamps.
What's wrong with removing the bulbs? 1 minute and everything is filmed! first, using a screwdriver, disconnect the wire, and then turning the lamp (it seems clockwise), grasping the base, remove it.
since you have more experience than mine, I wanted to ask: would you dare to put 55W lamps?
Come on, it's just better to take a flat long screwdriver and use it to disconnect the wires and then change the lamps.
Yes, it’s narrow somehow, the first attempt didn’t work out to pull it out) it was in the city center and time was running out. then, of course, without haste in a cozy place I will try again

By the way, in the book for the neighbor you need lamps with a power of 51W. I also look at the box of 51W fiilps. But most lamps with HB4 base come with 55W. Is it risky to put 55-watt? And since you changed the lamps, did you happen to remember what power was written on the standard lamps when they were taken out?) Otherwise, I still can’t remove the bulb :)
