Repair of the door hinge, temperature sensor, replacement of lamps in the backlight of the dashboard - Toyota Corsa, 1.5 liter, 1990
Since Eksist brought only the lower right of the three door hinges ordered, and in disassembly they are not much better than mine, I decided to try to sort out the hinge myself. For convenience, I removed the front bumper and the right fender - as a result, we have full access to the hinges, and the door does not need to be opened or hung out. First of all, I replaced the lower hinge with a new one - the door became much less sagging. Then he removed the upper hinge, sawed off the bosses from above and below with a grinder, knocked out the pin, the hinge disassembled into 2 parts. A lot of wear was present both on the pin and in the brass bushings. And since there was neither time nor desire to drag all this economy to the turner for the manufacture of bushings, a pin and drilling holes of a larger diameter, I simply drilled holes from 8mm to 10mm in the outer part of the hinge (in the inner part, after removing the remnants of the bushings, it turned out to be 10mm anyway), inserted a bolt of suitable length, laid washers between the hinges to eliminate vertical play, tightened the nut, lubricated and installed in place. Now the door does not sag at all when opening and closes with two fingers!
Then I took up the dashboard — the temperature gauge did not work and the previous owner screwed blue lamps into the backlight of the tidy — well, the blue backlight does not insert me, and almost nothing is visible with it! I bought 10 baseless overall light bulbs in a Zhiguli store for 10 rubles apiece (it turned out that there were 11 of them, but not all of them were blue, so that was enough). Dismantled the console, unscrewed and pulled out the tidy. I disassembled it, removed the temperature gauge, blew it, cleaned the contacts and tracks, put it back together, replaced the lamps. Then, with the help of mats and an assistant, I inserted it back - in one person, the speedometer cable did not want to snap into place on the speedometer. Now the sensor is working, the temperature is normal, the tidy glows with a normal white light!
At the weekend I'll probably sort out the hinge of the left door and if I have time I'll put the thresholds!
Good luck with the left hinge. We are waiting for photos with thresholds! *****!
Thanks! Now I'm thinking about how to make the brightness of the backlight adjustable, otherwise it shines too brightly in the dark.
Blue lighting in the furnace! He also immediately removed it in the Caribbean. And with the speedometer cable I suffered for the first time for 2 hours! He ripped off all his fingers. There were a lot of mats. Then I guessed to work with two hands. With one I direct the cable to the speedometer shaft, with the other hand I grope for it under the panel and push it until the latch pushes. minute maximum).
