Oil change — logbook Toyota Chaser 1998

   Toyota Chaser 25 1998

Well, the time has come to change the oil in the engine. I decided to try the new Castle TOYOTA 5w30 oil. I read somewhere that 5w30 is recommended for this engine. In general, there are so many fakes now found among common oils, so I decided to try Castle. I bought 2 cans at once 4 liters each (it’s cheaper than taking 4 + 2 per liter, it’s better to buy 4 liters later), well, I immediately bought a filter. A friend in the garage had the old oil drained and new oil filled in. So I won’t say right away if I felt the difference by ear as some write. I will see how it will start in the winter. I didn’t take pictures of the process ... but I’ll take a picture of the canister and post it if anyone is interested. Well, that’s all.)

I also recently changed the oil. filled the same as poured the previous owner. I did without flushing, I trust those detergents that are in the composition of any high-quality oil.

flushing oil.
You change the oil to a new one, without flushing. After all, it will also wash out all deposits over time and absorb it into itself. It can clog everything in the same way.
But I advise washing for taste and color. I always do it when buying a car after the old owner and or when switching from one oil to another oil.

Did the fuel filter come off easily or did you have to suffer? Although we have different engines, I can’t even reach it on my own.
And did you add flushing fluid before changing the oil? And then I have such a situation: sometimes there is a kind of tar on the dipstick. On the one hand, it is necessary to flush this muck, on the other hand, it can lead to leaching of deposits from the dead zones of the lubrication system and clogging of oil channels. In general, you need an expert opinion!

The filter was somehow unscrewed with a leather belt ... there’s no way to get it out of my hand, but I can’t crawl with both hands. I personally don’t trust flushing fluids. The oil will wash everything by itself. dark brown.

By the way, I have the same issue - the level also went down, although before that the shell had not dropped the level. There is also no blue smoke. Well, I also need to change the gaskets under the valve cover, the oil presses through it. And it cleans well

I also filled in the same oil, walked 2000 km on it, the level dropped by 2-3 mm from the maximum, I don’t know what the reason is ... The internal combustion engine is contractual and perfectly clean inside (the pan was removed) the compression is normal, there is no blue smoke when the slipper hits the floor, it crashes only steam from the accumulated moisture in the exhaust, as reported by the asphalt wet from the exhaust jet. But I gave the engine a bad shit, twisted it often to the cutoff and drove actively, maybe this affected the meal of the oil?
