"Steam from under the hood, fountains of antifreeze" or "Karina wanted antifreeze" - Toyota Carina, 1.8 liter, 1989

For a week now, I have been thinking about changing the antifreeze (or what the hell was it filled with?) For antifreeze, but somehow my hands did not reach. Karina eliminated my indecision herself. The most interesting thing is that yesterday I went to Berdsk (60 km round trip on the highway) and everything was in order. This morning I went for all sorts of chemicals for the car, and then suddenly steam from under the hood and the stench of antifreeze in the cabin. Not a single censorship thought came to mind, moreover, all of them were finally confirmed when, after turning off the car and going out to see what happened there, I saw a trickle of coolant flowing meanly down the front bumper. I lifted the hood - a whole fountain splashed on me from somewhere in the bowels of the engine! Box, distributor, radiator. hood, fuse boxes - everything was in hot antifreeze, which gushed out of the bursting outlet pipe of the stove. With grief in half reached home,

So Karina acquired another non-native part - of course, ordering or looking for an original pipe is stupid and pointless, so it was bought for 40 rubles in Avtograd (there, by the way, hoses of any length of various diameters are sold - they are measured and cut). At the same time, diode bulbs were bought (why - I’ll say later) for 50 rubles a piece, conductive glue for 200 rubles. and, in fact, green antifreeze for 550 rubles.

Buying everything you need. we attacked poor Karina like hungry wolves. First of all, the remnants of antifreeze were drained and the pipe was changed. The main obstacle when draining was to find a radiator valve - I have engine protection and closes everything. So, the crane is on the bottom right, if you look at the car in the face. After replacing the pipe and draining the coolant, poured water with a sprite - a good way to clean the radiators, the main thing is not to overdo it, because. sprite can open leaks in the radiator itself. After running this cooling cocktail, it was drained. The view of the merged sprite was very unappetizing - it washed out quite a lot of dirt.

Along with the change of the tube, dismantled the climate control panel and changed the light bulbs (three small diode bulbs for 50 rubles). Now not only the selected blowing mode is highlighted, but also the buttons themselves, as well as the temperature scale. It looks beautiful, and most importantly - comfortable.

While changing the light bulbs, I tried to glue the contact on the rear window defroster with conductive glue. To be honest, it didn't work. Glue is well suited for restoring tracks, but he doesn’t want to hold the terminals at all. At the same time I connected the rear speaker - it was turned off. I am amazed at the former owners of Karina, how much they have everything for a reason! If the wires from the lambda are hanging, then there is nowhere to connect it, if the relay to the battery is hanging on the starter, then the current is missing from the key somewhere, if the wires are hanging from the column, then it does not work.

Speaking of lambda. This time. dug well under the hood, found a wire going into the brain. It turned out to be a wire from an oxygen sensor, so it was stripped, screwed to the lambda and insulated. We are waiting for a miracle. At least now there is where to stick a new sensor, if I still buy it. I haven’t found a duplicate yet (it’s single-contact), but the original, which they offer, will cost 3,600 rubles, is it still necessary?
