Replacing the rear struts and stabilizer bushings (finally) — logbook Toyota Avensis 1998

Finally changed the rear shock absorbers and stabilizer bushings. From the beginning of summer, I suffered a terrible knock from behind, the opa at the car jumped on bumps like a basketball, buildups and rolls, and it was generally impossible to drive fast on glue, and strove to throw it out of the way.

There was no particular difficulty with the replacement of shock absorbers, the oporniks are located directly on the rear shelf under the skin. You must first remove the seat, recline the seat and remove the extreme sides, they are bolted from below, then remove 4 pistons from the bottom of the shelf and that's it, access is open.

But I had to tinker with the bushings in order to replace the entire subframe, it’s much more convenient, I hung it on a muffler) since the rubber bands that hold it are thick)
Bottom line: I got rid of all the control shortcomings listed above, and most importantly tiiiiiiiinaaa. I enjoy driving.
PS Oh yes, because of my active driving style, I chose gas shock absorbers. Yes, it’s tough, for it’s like on rails;)
PSS I apologize for the quality of the photo, phone)

well, yes, you’ll go out in the morning, cleaned the car from snow and warmed up the suspension! To warm it up, you need a girl :)

But you are not afraid that your gas shock absorbers will be bad in winter

does not wake them up badly, you just need to warm up the suspension a little and you can safely blame)))

By the way, I also read about this on the forum of avens drivers, the groove helps but not for long ... and what else to do - xs

S
SanchesWTF 12.02.22

I still think discs

p
pvlnick 12.02.22

a week as I changed the shoes on the spikes, they did the balancing of all 4 wheels, everything is fine, it looks like the brake discs or such pads are burnt (

S
SanchesWTF 12.02.22

Two options or wheel imbalance (balancing will help) or brake discs (maybe the groove will help) I also have vibration during heavy braking (((I also heard that this problem occurs in many such Avensis.

I haven’t really touched the chassis yet, well, everything I did in the BZ)
I now have a trouble in the next one, vibration in the steering wheel when braking = (like the pads moved away quite a bit, and most importantly, the vibration appears as the pads warm up, because in the morning I leave - everything is fine ... I drove 3 km and away we go

S
SanchesWTF 12.02.22

No, I've already changed almost everything in a circle! =)

they also changed the bushings of the stub for me, they didn’t hang anything, they replaced it like this. True, the mats were higher than the roof =) I haven’t touched the racks yet, while the flight is normal ...
