SWAP 4A-GE - engine installation (5,6,7-11-2010) - Toyota Carina E, 2.0 liter, 1992

SWAP 4A-GE 567-11-2010 Toyota Carina E 20 1992

Good day to all. The November holidays passed in shock work. And there are results!
So the box was installed on a new engine and the engine itself was installed. But first things first.
Installing the clutch: it would seem not a difficult operation, but how long you will install the box depends on the centering of the disk. Since this was the first experience in our practice, we drank a lot. So at first they took a plastic handle and centered it. visually looked at the disk relative to the flywheel, everything seems to be in openwork. But the box is put on only on "one side", they tried to center it again, again it's not okay. In the toga, the following was done: an old mallet with a wooden cylindrical handle (diameter ~ 22 mm) was taken, the basket was loosened with a mallet, hammered with a rubber mallet, the basket was tightened (immediately by the moment) and we remove our mallet, try to put on the box and voila, everything turned out, literally in 10 minutes. Since there were minutes left before the lights were turned off in the auto-cooperative, the bolts only made money.
The next day, engine installation:
the box was screwed up, faced with the problem that the dirt-proof "bell" that is put on the box and the block does not fit. FE and GE seem to have different oil pans. I didn’t install it yet, or I’ll work from an FE grinder and a file, or I’ll fall into the hands of GE (which is unlikely of course) The box is delivered, the pillows are ready to proceed with the installation. Honestly, I don’t know how anyone starts and in what sequence he attaches the engine to the pillows, they did everything on a whim. It turned out something like this: We lower the engine, first start its left part (box), naturally its right part hung on the langeron. Having brought the box under the support mount, we push it to the left and start the right side. In reality, of course, everything is not so simple, it either clings to the ABS module or to the battery pad, but this is not the worst thing. So the engine is already completely in the engine compartment, we begin to screw it to the pillows. First they screwed it to the back cushion, then to the front. Next, the left (from the side of the box), so I had to dig deeper with it, to be honest. The bolt from behind the ABS module is, as it were, at an angle, and the bolt is still with an airfield-type cap. Duck, the visor had to be removed with a file and the bolt was already lightly twitching with a hammer, both with the engine and with the pillow, to advance. Well, from the timing side, everything turned out to be easier than it seemed. I have on the engine that part of the support that was from the engine itself (cast iron) and now they have already screwed their own pillow to it. Well, in a nutshell, practically. They threw the wiring, measured it, it seems to reach the salon) and the bolt is still with a cap like an airfield. Olekh was engaged in the salon all the days, shumavol, burned all his fingers on the hair dryer. We decided before installing a freshly washed heater to make the motor shield Shumkov. Bomb bays that have rusted through and through have already been discovered. But about them later. A photo report is being made.

Does he get up as if he was there?

it seemed, and maybe in fact it is, he seemed to have become a little taller. Well, the air receiver is not yet standing, it will take up space there and everything will be plump)))
PS Compared the oil dipsticks from FE are much longer than GE.

Good afternoon
And how did you pick up the left pillow (piece of iron)? What model of manual transmission?

thanks for the information. I just want to put myself 4a-ge. I would like to put everything together. Here I am gathering information.

Hello. It all depends on what you're into it for. As practice has shown, you can give "dig" on the C50. And of course, ideally C56 or C52 (it was placed on SilverTop). By the way, I bought the C56 on occasion, and the drive to it. I just want to compare what the difference will be)
On the C56, the gears are shorter, that is, you will have to switch more often, but it is as balanced as possible for this power. On the C50, it's a little sad for me now to accelerate to a shift for a long time. All of the above IMHO, if I'm wrong in something, I do it sincerely)

Please tell me, which box is ideal for this engine? C56? or I'm wrong? I just plan to also get confused on the topic of replacing the engine with this one.
