All at once 3,144837689287 — logbook Toyota Carib 1988

It's time to take a closer look at the car. There is progress. Well, at least now I myself believe that I will collect it back. While the engine is being “finished” at a pace (the new ShPG has taken its place, it remains to wait for the head after assembly and the new oil pump, and you can finally assemble it).

A lot of man-hours were spent on bringing the body into a divine form. There were both places touched by rust and generally parted welds with cracks.
www.drive2.ru/cars/toyota...roots-nsk/journal/?page=1 Long fought with native seam sealant. Strong stsuko and a lot of it, and most importantly that in twenty years he has already got between the body panels. When welding, naturally, the sealant "explodes" and spoils the seam. Well, somehow with jambs, but finished.

In parallel with the repair, I tried to comprehend the process of strengthening the rigidity of the body with "improvised means." I settled on welding the seams, reinforcements between the side members and the engine shield (see Best Motoring Ae86 Club Vol 7), "additional" plates of 1mm sheet on the cups of the front struts (I spied on the rally drivers, similar to this one media.club4x4.ru/uploads/posts/1207662177_11.jpg ), reinforced subframe (a plate of 3 mm sheet from the bottom + the seams along the contour are welded ) and levers (seams and unnecessary holes). In the cabin there was a spacer under the seats from a square profile. A little later I will add amplifiers a la see the video above in the back of the body.

A small lyrical digression. A similar gain set is controversial. I did all this rather for the sake of experience and welding practice. The weight / reliability ratio is of course in the direction of the second. Consciously made this choice. The machine is not for the ring, but more for gravel roads and ice in winter. And on such roads with me and jumps will be on a good suspension.

Regular insulation shield in the cabin was thrown out and glued splen four. That's enough for me. The old cabin wiring from a poor configuration has given way to a similar one, but from a donor. Therefore, now I have a stove with electric shutters (formerly a mechanic with levers), electric mirrors and windows. And also an adjustable steering column. Shikuyu =)

The most notable innovation inside is the backstage of a mechanical box (five-speed E57). Clutch pedal and hydraulic line with cylinders included.

Many people asked me what kind of box is needed for a 4A-GE swap. The answer is written above. This is a full-time all-wheel drive transmission of the Caribbean. The problem is picking the clutch. The point here is this. The regular flywheels of 20 valves are of course different on front-wheel drives, and hence the clutch. The input shaft of the 4WD box is thicker than that of the monodrive. According to the experience of comrades who have already swapped GE in "k-aa-rib-U" on a regular blacktop flywheel, you can pick up a basket and a clutch disc. They promised part numbers, but have not been able to tell me them so far.

The second method was suggested by the Zizo commander, for which we thank him. Flywheel from GZE compressor motor from related ae9* bodies. It is the same as the Black one for 8 bolts (for FE 6, therefore, it will not be possible to leave the regular one) and is designed for boxes of the E series. The standard basket and clutch disc are put on it without any problems. Therefore, we mutually beneficially exchanged these devices with the user old-Duglas . The margin of safety of the regular clutch is xs. Maybe later I will buy a new disk for GZE. So far, there is, because it is necessary to save. =)

I also looked at what needs to be done with Levin brakes with SSS suspension. Well, it turned out that everything is the same as what the guys on gtextreme say with a similar installation on Truny / Lyov with MacPherson in front. Read here www.gtextreme.ru/forum/sh...juansy-ikh-ustanovki.html

For the winter, I’ll probably leave my native calipers for the time being, since I won’t pull a set of a new winter 15-shki now, and 14 disks are stamped from a donor with Velcro, and even more so native cast 13-chic brakes don’t climb on SSS. Only on the right big white rims +)

For now, that's all. We work further.

Happy, and we have +14.

Do you play around in the garage every day? Why don't you appear in ICQ?

S, the mask until you said you didn’t burn it, the correct mask)

Dima, thanks! I set a deadline for myself before ice on the lakes =) ZY- we only had snow today =)

Until the end of November, I think the motor will take its place, and then the brain-fuck with the wiring will begin. I'm afraid to even think about how long it will take. Let's see. The main thing is to be in time before frost. Still roll around.

ZY1- Mask, mask checked out?! =) Without it, in any way now) Not svarshcheg)
ZY2- Still, how much you sawed after them! =) Until now, hellishly grateful)

Lyokha, handsome, I'm glad that your project is moving forward! Have you outlined the approximate dates for when you will go?
ZY1: You're a hell of a welder!
ZY2: The wheels are familiar)

When does your bucket get up for rebuild? Already it is necessary, Vova, it is necessary!

yeah, I checked it out on Sunday, only there was no light in the garages, I didn’t see much. I also thought - I would put Lech on the photo drive and here it is, it happened =)

Yeaaaa… any brakes should be put from Levin =) I wanted to stick from the superstrat suspension… And I was going to leave the drums in the back… Native brakes can’t cope with the Uashpe! Christmas tree sticks are burning
