Production of daytime running lights - Toyota Avensis, 1.8 liter, 1998
In general, in view of the new additions to the rules, that now you need to move around with the lights on all the time, I decided to make daytime running lights.
Since the habit of turning on the light has not yet developed, I decided to power this business from the ignition, so that as soon as the key was turned, the whole thing would light up (by the way, I’ll make a reservation right away, later everything will be redone and will turn on along with the dimensions).
Well, actually, I had some free time, but the question arose: "How?!", how to implement it. Definitely the choice fell in the direction of LEDs, but here's the catch, how to stand out from the crowd of tasteless LED dimensions, organized by gluing LED strip on the headlight, or under the headlight on the bumper? Plus, I wanted it to look good too.
After thinking a little, my brain suggested the idea that it is not necessary to stick out the tape outward, but to hide it inward, and let the light through some kind of diffuser. The choice fell on plexiglass. I began to look for a piece that suits me and, as they say, whoever seeks will always find.
Here is such a miracle.
After the glass was found, I went for some missing personal belongings.
- Super glue;
- Foil;
- Small sandpaper.
Returning home, I picked out the plastic plugs from the bumper and away we go. :))))
Washed and inspected.
Decided to do the light in the lower groove. Cut a hole.
Tried glass.
What you need ... well, in the sense that everything is fine in width, and of course, not ice yet :))))
But a clerical knife, soldering iron and sandpaper did their job. It turned out something like this.
Well, that's a completely different matter :))))
Then I glued the glass with foil, so that the light would go exactly where we need it. Attached the ribbon in place. (on the second photo the tape is included)
And here is the result.
Well, that's all for today, the continuation with the second side and the hoisting of all this on the car will be tomorrow!
…to continue…
It turns out very, very well! well done! the idea of light through the plexiglass end is super!
The idea is great! And it looks swanky! But how to isolate all this beauty from moisture ?!
As for the inclusion ... I did it using a five-pin relay. When the ignition is turned on, the lights come on, when the dimensions are turned on, they turn off. Very comfortably.
And the work is not done five!
