CarPC Installation (Updated) — Toyota Celica, 1.8 liter, 2001
Having learned once what a car personal computer is, I clearly decided for myself that I will probably never return to any radio tape recorders and similar GUs. The computer in the car is much more functional and provides more opportunities. The experience of its use was quite rich, it was in the previous car.
The most important thing in the construction of CARPC and perhaps the most difficult in my opinion is the installation of the monitor and bringing it to ideal forms.
I already had a monitor, remained after installation in another machine.
The location of the monitor fell on the glove box of the center console. The photo isn't very good, but you get the idea.
So let's get started:
Pull out the console and figure out what's what:
We take the front of our monitor and try it on the frame.
Next, we cut off all the excess and try it on again.
Now you need to cover up all the cracks :) I used a two-component Higear plasticine of the "cold welding" type. Many people say that it is too hard when hardening, but I could not think of anything better, so we use it :)
Next, you need to sand to remove all the bumps:
And so on, putty, skins, and so on until blue in the face :)
After we got the perfect shape, we cover our frame with primer and paint. Unfortunately, I did not find photos of this moment, I will immediately show the finished result in the car:
I was pleased with the result, it looks very dignified.
As the case, something was chosen that resembled either some kind of projector, or something similar, successfully stolen at work :)
All the filling was taken out, unnecessary irregularities inside the case itself were removed.
Inside the case there is a MINI-ITX form factor motherboard, a 120 GB SATA hard drive, 1 GB RAM, and an E-10000 car power supply.
On the outside, power buttons have been added, the photo is not very visible. This is what the computer case looks like when closed. The body itself will be located under the seat.
So yes, but I saw such a frame in carbon fiber, in a film, it doesn’t look very good
Yeah, I have not yet learned how to paint in gloss, so for now it will be matte :)
it turned out great for myself, too, for a long time I’m thinking the same way)
I apologize for not being able to answer, lately I have not had enough time to read all the comments. The computer in the car is actually a very useful thing. The monitor is actually touch-sensitive, the system unit is under the driver's seat. What is it for? Music, movies, games, navigation, internet, road recording. In short, all in one :) thanks for the ratings!
description of the process for 5+! I also want to know once what an autocomputer is, sorry for my darkness, but where is its touch control ?, and why is there a radio tape recorder then? Or is it not a radio tape recorder? What useful functions does it perform? Yes, for the car and the attitude towards it you two fives!
Thanks a lot) about the computer, by the way, I’ll post more details a little later, improvements are being made, but there’s not enough time for everything :)
For the price, what can I say - all together it cost me about 20k. The most expensive is a monitor, small, and even with a touch screen, in short, around 11k. The next one is a car power supply, especially for a car computer, around 3500 chtoli, I don’t remember right now, but maybe it’s cheaper, right now these technologies are developing rapidly. I assembled the iron myself, in principle, any, the main thing is not quite weak, a laptop screw, it is more resistant to shaking and vibrations. The case was made independently, first from plastic, then from metal. You can even without a case at all :) In principle, the price of a normal head, few people deal with a computer in a car, because it’s hemorrhoids, you have to deal with it, etc., etc., it’s easier to buy a prolodgy balalaika that reads everything and is inexpensive and drive with it :)
I will follow. By the way, would you like to know about the price? otherwise the problem is a new head + navigator + parktroonik + video recorder or autocomp. I wonder what will outweigh.
www.pccar.ru I hope it will be useful for you, there are a lot of things there :)
yes, I fixed everything, only during the winter the battery in the laptop died, well, I have pickups, and so the computer is ready for work in the spring :)
Listen, everything is fine. Did you fix your computer by the way? And about the pickups, xs there the brains pass under the console
does the monitor display normally? I have some kind of pickups from him damn it :( and the radio tape recorder has pickups :(
