By default the installation directory of the steam games are that way:
C:....\Steam\steamapps\common

Try to do a cache integrity check: right-click on the name of the game in the steam library -> properties -> local files

A few options:
1) game settings -> advanced -> memory settings (high) (restart the game)
2) to put either high or low priority in task Manager (ctrl+alt+del)
3) disable multicore rendering in game settings (restart the game)
4) switch the game in windowed mode without frame

PS you can still try update/reinstall the driver.
