HTC Desire Eye and ZENFONE Selfie. What's the catch?

In view of the popularization of social networks in the minds of others, I am saddened to understand that this fate did not pass me by either. And I caught myself thinking this when I started uploading pictures to Instagram. But, unfortunately, my smart is not equipped with a good camera and I set out to find a replacement in such a subclass of smartphones as "selfiphones". The sensational HTC Desire Eye and ZENFONE Selfie caught my attention. Their characteristics are similar, and the latter is also cheaper, but everyone remembers about the free cheese. What's the catch?

obviously in the name. If HTC used to make cool smarts and sell them at an adequate price, now they are running straight after Samsung. So the two models are really similar in characteristics.

Take Asus unambiguously. HTC is already in a semi-recumbent state. found something to compare. Undoubtedly, the HTZ is already outliving its own.

SeFeRus is right! Asus will be better in hardware, although it is 20 grams heavier)))

Give, pliz, at least a couple of arguments in favor of Asus. I am not against criticism of HTC in this context, but only on condition that it is different from phrases like "HTC is not the same".

since I used top-end devices from both manufacturers, I can safely say that although htc is thinner and looks elegant, compared to zenfone 2 it has a number of disadvantages. First of all, the OS is striking - it is not as friendly and beautiful as ZenUI. Secondly, the dubious power - the device has been jamming more than once, while in six months of work with the aus, this has not happened even once. The lack of autoload management led to waste of battery life, which made the zenfone's battery life more impressive. In general, I can go on for a long time ...

As for the axis, I can say that the android in both models, only different versions (I believe that HTC will still provide updates).
The shell is another matter, here it is really different, but each of them has its own admirers. And, I remember that zenui can be easily downloaded from the playmarket and tried on almost any smart, unlike sence. At the expense of lags - I can not say anything, but about autonomy I would like to say that the difference is justified by a more capacious battery, which is installed in asus, and not by autoload. You can continue.

By the way, has this selfie phone from NTS been updated to the 5th version of Android, or does it work on 4.4? Yes, and most users like the interface from asus, as it is more convenient and attractive, and sense has become too simple, the zest for which everyone liked it so much has disappeared

Yes, earlier it was possible to download and try, now no, unfortunately. Maybe .apk old on which w3bsit3-dns.com and lying around, did not look, but attempts to find something sane to hang on 4.4 KitKat were not crowned with success. On the other hand, this shell should not be distributed for free now - it is too good for that.

1. 2014-11-14 HTC Eye sales start date. 2015-06-01 Asus Selfie. The corollary is the more modern 615 Snap from Asus, and the graphics of Adreno 405. 2. The cameras are more or less identical in characteristics, but the Asus has an optical aperture of F / 2, and the HTS has F / 2.2. The difference is small, but again in favor of Asus. Only Asus has laser autofocus of the main camera. I don't touch the software for the camera, here - to each his own. 3. Both tech giants are Taiwanese, but for some reason the price tags differ by 1.5 !!! times. Although the labor force and components are used essentially the same. Conclusion: HTC nameplate is overrated. 4. The batteries are incomparable in size, and although the Asus has a 0.3-inch screen larger, the difference in the batteries is still significant. Again in favor of Asus. Personally, for myself, I would single out this right away ... Although, if you rummage around, you can still dig up interesting things.

For some reason, the price tags differ 2 times, you really do not know why? To begin with, HTC has never been famous for adequate price tags for their devices, but they made up for this with excellent quality of their products. But, personally, in this case, I see no reason to overpay purely for the brand, if I can buy a much cheaper and more interesting smartphone from Asus

You know, the most weighty argument in favor of Asus is that HTC is already practically (or maybe not practically) bankrupt. Therefore, there can be no question of any support for old devices. Unless, of course, the fate of nokia befalls them and they are not redeemed by some thread by a larger manufacturer.

early to bury HTC. However, their affairs are getting worse and worse. The year before last, they got rid of a third of their employees at once. Top models shamelessly fit the design of the apple, which only causes me a gag reflex: when the technology giant, once the leader in the PDA market, in the last hope of somehow correcting its affairs, goes to such low-grade actions ... It's already indecent. I think the fate of Motorola awaits them. Spachala will rush into the Top segment, then they will be resold several times and will be respected on this, or they will be repurposed. Yes, they are well assembled and look nice, but they are highly overrated. In contrast, Asus. Not so long ago in the mobile market, but in general the firm is reputable. Why shouldn't they bend the prices too ?! Apparently there is a conscience and the connection with reality is not lost ...

it seems to me that if asus bought htc, projecting their marketing policy on them and combining the developments, then they would have got cool developments

Honestly, even if the low-grade actions had an adequate price component, it would bring more success than an attempt to enter the A segment. After all, there is a crisis in the yard and not everyone can afford a smart one above $ 200

E
Emelyasha 12.11.21

The crisis is primarily in our heads, it is implanted in us and by our beloved state, as well as by manufacturers who shamelessly drive up the price of their devices. In comparison with them, I would call Asus devices the best state employees, certified and supported in our country.

R
Raykor 12.11.21

I would not say that ASUS are state employees, but they are probably the only A-brands that sell smartphones at a fairly adequate price, without the "ala iPhone" markup 10 times!

Plus! Mentioned what I missed. In Russia, the representative offices of the gaining momentum Meizu and Xiaomi are somewhat muddy. One cannot hear about them, one cannot see them. The overwhelming majority of their devices continue to enter Russia through Chinese online stores. Full-fledged russified firmware did not take place until last year, I don’t know how it is now ... It’s not clear how things are with service ... So in Russia, their price is quite justified, in view of the moments described. And certification is, among other things, our health (SAR, plastic quality, safety for sight and hearing, etc.) It turns out that Asus and Korean LG have taken some intermediate position in price between the aksakals of the mobile market and new Chinese this is all the advantages of civilized production.

J
Ju St 12.11.21

I was always surprised by such a party policy, when the country is in the epicenter of the crisis, and there is no price reduction at all, but on the contrary, only their unlimited growth. The people of the salary spend only to survive. Yes, yes, not to live, but to survive. Where are the smarts for 400 k?!)

R
Raykor 12.11.21

Well, this is a pursuit of prestige, and for the sake of it people are ready to spend quite large sums. Walk around in rags, but with an up-to-date smartphone. Personally, I don't strive to join their ranks and prefer to spend money more rationally, buying smartphones only for their performance and functionality, and not for promotion

E
Emelyasha 12.11.21

Heh ... this is a kind of phenomenon of the Slavic world. For the first time I see a more or less adequate discussion of brands without measuring "relics and inches".
