How do I add upgrades to weapons? (XCOM 2)

True, literally a couple of missions have passed, but there are already different sights there, etc. Pounding in the eyes, where to put them on the weapon? Or am I just not getting to the point where it can be done? thanks

The fighter will have such a button not in the equipment, but up to this point, where you can go to the abilities. And yes, do research on that first.

Do not rush to install improvements on the firearm, it is better to save them for the gauss, or at least for the energy weapon.
