How did it come to the fact that people are now captured?Scorpius 01
Well, as it usually happens - they did not cope with the onslaught of alien invaders, what else is there to explain. They just took the bad one from the two endings of the first part.
In the first part, what we fought with was only reconnaissance, later the main army arrived and seized everyone unceremoniously.
The game directly states that the Council caved in under the aliens, and our base fell during the attack on it, and then the GG was captured.
Jake Solomon said the REAL (canon) difficulty of XCOM: EU Legend with ironman mode. And since only <1% of the players completed the game in this mode, the Earth was captured
I’m more interested in why they didn’t say how they captured the Avenger, and they didn’t say how they found the boss

Further in the story they will say that:
SpoilerInfu about the Commander was leaked by the last member of the council, who did not sell out to the aliens, but remained faithful to humanity and became a local Stirlitz. And the Avenger is one of the first downed alien scouts, in which Shen did a good job, and then his daughter.

in the game clearly said that the Council had betrayed the land. Either he was deceived, or bribed, or for some other reason, but they simply capitulated. And since the Council is the main leaders of the main countries and providers of financing for the XCOM, the XCOM no longer had a chance to continue the defense, because the Council also leaked all the information about the XCOM and its location. That's all. The main forces came and at once captured the XSOM base.
