Serious problem with files of Steam games

I downloaded the game and wanted to install a modification, but I no longer need the modification, and I do not know how to remove it. How can I download the latest version of the game provided by Steam so that there are no modifications of mine, because if I delete the game through Steam, it will download all the files that were at the time of deletion?
