Controls (Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series)

Without a joystick, is it really possible to play the keyboard?
In the first episode, right after the initial battle, they ask to get a sword. "select and than PRESS" A "to pick up sword". I selected the sword with the mouse wheel and clicked with the left button (as in the control settings), and in general I pressed all the keys ... does not take the sword and that's it ... although the wasd works, the character walks ...
So the question is, how take an item from inventory ??
