The processor for the Witcher 3 (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt)

Hello! Not so long ago I picked up a video card for a game, and they helped me a lot on this forum. At that time, I did not have enough funds, and I decided to buy a video card and RAM. Now I plan to continue and buy a processor and a monitor.
Actually, I have already picked up the monitor, Full HD, max resolution 1920x1080, everything I wanted.
As for the processor, I would like to consult with you again!
So. My system at the moment:
Motherboard: MSI H61M-S20 (G3) (MS-7788)
Video card: Asus Ge Force GTX 960 Turbo
RAM: DDR3 - 1600, 8GB
CPU: Intel Core i3 - 3245, 3.40GHz
PSU: Crown Model : CM-PS500Smart 500W
Windows 7, 64 Bit
As far as I understand, the processor is too weak for a video card, and something more serious is needed.
I would like something within 12000r, but I am looking at Intel Core i5 6500. How do you like this model? What FPS should I count on if I focus on it?

How naive, the socket is from i5-6500 LGA1151, you only need an i5-3470 or i7-3770 for this card

I5-6500 you can't !!!
I5-2500K
I5-2550K
I5-3470
I5-3570
I5-3570K
If you are lucky, as they disappear (some have disappeared long ago), change the block first! At least FSP !!!!!!!!!!!!

Oops. Really stupid with a socket. Then 6500 hang-up ...
What about the i5-4460?

R
RedBlack23 27.11.21

Or i5-4590. I'm looking at the site now and trying to find)

There is also a variant of the i5-3470, but you will have to order in another store (

In general, please tell
me what percentage will be the best for this game and card)) I also consider i5-3470, but the price bites ((

Sokket 1155
And this percentage needs 1150 = (

you have 1155 sockets, so processors whose index starts with 2xxx or 3xxx are suitable for you. Those. either Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge. There is no point in buying new ones on socket 1155 in the store, if they are sold, then they are expensive, almost like Haswells or Skylakey.
Sandy Bridge should be taken only with a big discount, and from the models either i5 2500 or i7 2600, the price is up to 6t.r.-8t.r. the processors are old, overused, with a high heat dissipation relative to the ivy bridge.
It will be best to find on Avito some i5 3570 in the region of 7-8 tr., Or i7 3770 in the region of 10 tr.
I climbed on Avito in your city ... I found only i5 2300 for 5 tr. is the only normal sentence. In theory, you can take it by checking the processor when buying with the LinX 0.6.5 program 30 minutes - if there are no errors, then you can no longer be afraid of anything. There is also the wprime32 program - it can also check the stability of the processor, preferably from 30 minutes.

As for the game The Witcher 3: it is not processor-dependent, there will not be much difference between, for example, the i5 2300 and the i5 6500. It's another matter if you think not only about this game, but also for the future. If we are updating the processor, then I would also update the socket, and would recommend the i5 4670K-4690K with a motherboard on the Z87-Z97 chipset.

Hmm, thank you for such a great work done, even looked at the processors in my city)))
You are right, it is problematic to find a good enough processor on my socket.
The only question here is that, as I was told, my i3 - 3245 does not fully reveal the power of the video card, but reveals somewhere around 60-70 percent.
I just thought to buy a new computer, but that's a completely different question. I would like to update the old one ... And I'm afraid that for a new monitor with an old processor, the number of FPS will drop noticeably)

Lord, please don’t listen to anyone, he’s not weak for a witcher, it’s better to spend this money on a new video card! The ratio of performance from a video card to a profit will be much higher, believe me from my own experience.

That is, it is better to spend on a video card than on a percent?

Then another question is that I really notice the weakness of the processor in front of the video card.
In the same Witcher, FPS jumps from 60 to 40, which is expressed in slightly unpleasant jerks in the picture. I solved this problem using the Riva Tuner program, set the lock to 45 FPS, but constantly turning on the program is annoying

I have an i5 3550 all the rules, together with the 660 video card it gives out from 30 at high

maximum that the board can be placed, and it makes sense to put it i7 2600 overclocking and it seems it can not therefore there is no point in the processor with the index K Well maybe there ische i7 3770 and some I5 with good chostotoy
particularly if the witch 3 - it seems to be not demanding before the processor. therefore, specifically for this game, strong and 5 should be in abundance for 30fps,
and so everything goes to the trash heap

IMHO, first it is better to find out what prots this mother supports. Since this mother is not on the MSI website, please contact technical support. It seems to be close in characteristics to this mother - MSI H61M-P20 (G3), but better - to technical support. For mother P20 http://www.msi.com/product/motherboard/support/H61M-P20-G3.html#support-cpu

I would change the motherboard, but because the motherboard makes sense there is a current along with the processor to change (IMHO) then save money)

Believe me , replacing the card will solve the problem, 960 is an ordinary stump and it does not pull the witcher at the proper level, I had a 670, coupled with an i5 3570k overclocked to 4.7, replaced 670 with 980ti and voila on settings 670 I started it on a new card, and where it was 40-50 fps at medium, it became 170 fps, switched everything to ultra except hair, and stable 60 fps with vertical, and more is not needed for comfort.

But now there is no point in changing 960, wait for the pascal, I bought a card back in June, ordered it from Amazon. And the price of 980ti in Russia is space.
