Quests and companions (Fallout 4)

I apologize if the topic has already been, and I have not found it. I have a problem with companions who have quests before or after joining. For example, Preston could run with me only before the proposal to storm the Castle, but now he only gives new tasks and accepts completed ones. If I press E on him, the random room attendant says the phrase, and goes about his business. The same thing with Dance, just the opposite - I completed the quest to find the missing patrol after the arrival of the main forces of the BS, and now Dance is my companion, I cannot turn in the quest to him.
